Vortex warranty awesome!

In my experience (selling hundreds of Vortex scopes), there is a fairly low return rate for factory defects. I've seen a few reticules come loose, and a few crushed scope tubes (user error). There are a lot of these sold every year, and for a good reason.

That's fine, but you truly have no idea how many that you sold actually went back to Vortex for warranty as most people generally deal directly with Vortex.

Traded for a gun that came with a Vortex Crossfire, had a crushed tube from over tightened rings, sent it in had a new one back in 2 weeks. Great service.

A guy at the range told me something similar this weekend. But I do not understand how that is even possible. Are the tubes so fragile? I do not remember hearing that from any other brand...

Leupold has excellent quality product and warranty.

Vortex has excellent warranty...

I partially disagree. I have had more issues with Leupold products than my Vortex products. I've sent a couple Leupold scopes to Korth group to be repaired and was less than impressed with the customer service I received from them. They did fix the issues but I wasn't too happy with how everything was dealt with. It just wasn't a very professional experience in my opinion.

That is true that I can't say with certainty, but when you sell 200 of these scopes per year, and send back less than a half dozen for repair, you get a decent idea that the return rate isn't unreasonably high. Generally you do get feedback from the customer if they have to send back a new scope shortly after buying it.

Yes it is a possible issue with all manufacturers. I have seen 2 S&Bs get crushed by mouth breathing idiots

Yep, 15-18 in/lbs is what Vortex recommends. Most others are in the 20 in/lb range recommendation for torque, and generally that is plenty. There is no need to torque your scope rings to 30+ in/lbs, even without the use of loc tite.

CGN is full of Vortex stories. The two facts that distill out are:
- they have one of the best warranties out there, and
- far too many people have to use that warranty.

However, even if you gave me a good piece of glass, and told me you'd replace it every year, that's still a decent deal... Minus being without the scope for a while.

You can't ignore the fact that there are ALOT of vortex scopes out there... More scope means more chance of getting a defective scope.

I dunno.
I have S&B, Nightforce, Zeiss Conquest, Leopolds, Sightrons.
Never had a problem.
Don't see a lot of CGN posts praising how quickly they got a new scope from those brands.
Suggests to me that Vortex may have many quality issues.
Just an uninformed opinion: hold the flame throwers please.

The issue with this is that the brands you listed, generally make high end optics in smaller quantities (Leupold may be the only one on the same level as Vortex)

Vortex makes all kinds of optics at prices ranging from $50 to $3500. The large quantity of their less valuable scopes make up a massive percentage of Vortex optics out there. These are more of the optics that you see warranty claims about on Forums. If you compare the Vortex Razor lines to the S&B, Nightforces of the world. I am sure the number of warranty claims even out between Vortex and those brands.

Good point; good post.

Vortex, another private label trying to make it with the big boys, the product is useless if you keep having to use the warranty.
There are so many private labels out there that manufacturers are having a hard time meeting demand, some of the more
successful private labels like Nightforce have had to start manufacturing their own scopes or partially manufacturing/assembling their own.
At the end of the day there are only a hand full of scope manufacturers, it is my opinion that you will always be better served in the long run
when you deal with a OEM company that makes their own products like Leupold etc.

So you think that Vortex doesn't make any of their parts and pieces for their scopes or assemble themselves?

If so, I suggest you go onto the Vortex facebook page and watch their factory tour where they show them machining parts and assembling scopes in the USA.

vortex warranty

I have lots of Vortex stuff and am extremely happy with the quality. Just the other day, I was out hunting and noticed my Razor binos kept losing focus if they were inverted. I suspect a loose focus track or lense. Will send them away at the end of hunting season and I have no doubts that they will fix them up to my satisfaction.

I too have a Few Vortex scopes BUT and as many have stated the Warranty is the best out there ! BUT if i had RAZOR binos out Sheep hunting and they phucked up they would never be around my neck again - Warranty is not worth a Sh*t on top of a mountain hunting ! Its all the Same there ! So adding to this i NEVER take any new untested equipment of any kind out to the mountains - So as to Maybe Eliminate any possible failure ! :) jmo

Cheers RJ

Vortex has a great warranty. I've had an old used strikefire replaced with the latest model. I have an old VMX3 magnifier in for warranty now. A lose swing mount is unstable, hopefully it will be replaced by a newer model.

To clarify this, its just that they lose focus slightly if tipped upside down. I just have to move the focus knob and they come back in focus so it's not like they are permanently out of focus.

I have been using Vortex products for a few years now and love their Viper and Viper PST line of scopes. They offer all the features I was after and at a decent price. I have had one occasion to use their warranty, one of my Viper models had a sticky magnification adjustment. Sent it back and they told me they would lube it up and send it back, but instead they sent me a brand new scope! First class treatment all the way and for me a quality product. YMMV
