Vortex warranty question???

You bet. Get in touch or else if you bought it from a few of their retailers they have a straight across the counter deal.
I bought a Vortex from P&D which was defective and they told me the Dealer exchange is no longer true and I had to send it back to Vortex to get it fixed which took six weeks.

that's real interesting as i was in kelowna for this past weekend and i spoke at length with a vortex dealer (grouse river) who told me the dealer exchange program was ongoing. All vortex dealers were encouraged to use their judgment in making such over the counter exchanges. after speaking with him, i will be looking at getting a vortex rather than another nightforce.

did you deal with dianne at p/d???

given the benefits of the internet, it is always important to stick with dealers who realize the value of supporting their customers after the money has changed hands, especially with a defective product.

Should have asked someone else at P&D... if that is their official policy then we should all know, as many dealers still offer over the counter warranty

x100 it is always important to stick with dealers who realize the value of supporting their customers after the money has changed hands, especially with a defective product

Yes I did talk with Dianne who told me this, who was the second person I spoke with at P&D, because I was not happy with the original response that I got. I ended up buying two Vortex PST 1-4, one from P&D and one from SFRC. The one I received from P&D had a price sticker on the scope and no bikini rings. When I asked about this I was told they no longer came with bikini rings, which was untrue, which was confirmed when I received the other scope from SFRC and when I noticed that the reticule light adjustment was defective I was informed that it was my responsibility to return the scope to Vortex, since the dealer exchange had been discontinued a couple of months previously. I thought the scope had been either used previously or had been in the store for a long time in order for the light adjustment to not work correctly on two of the settings. I was told by Dianne that they did not sell "used equipment" as new. I have not purchased anything else from P&D as a result of this experience and prefer to deal with other online retailers. When I was at the Kamloops gun show I ended up talking with the Vortex representative and suggested that Vortex add a clear wrapping to the scope boxes the same as Leupold, so that customers can be sure they are getting an unopened box.

I think we need a "Vortex Warranty" forum. Every week there are a couple of threads on issues.

Hopefully we won't need the forum... That will tell me the quality of the scope. Everyone talks so highly of Vortex's C-S, I'm happy I purchased a Burris MTac over the PST which also came sealed in plastic!

We're usually over the counter for Vortex warranty with a few exceptions. If we don't have something in stock for a replacement we've usually worked something out or had the person send it directly to the warranty centre. For instance we don't have a 3-9x40 scope to replace it with and the person wants the same scope we'll have them send it to the warranty centre. If they wanted they could send it here but sending it direct is faster instead of sending it here then waiting on us to get one in. We usually stock over 100 Vortex scopes so replacement isn't usually an issue.

It would be really nice to know the percentage of warranty claims per manufacturer.

I agree 100%... There will always be a lemon, but all I hear with Vortex is that " the customer service people are great!". I personally don't think that's a good thing. Why are all these Vortex's messing up?

We have very few come back with defects. The old model illuminated reticle Crossfires had issues sometimes on larger calibre guns but I've had no issues with the Crossfire II (new model), I've never had a Diamondback returned, one Viper PST broke and a few SPARC's have died. Anything else was customer damage but still covered. That's all I can think of and we sell 100's of thousands in Vortex a year.

And this is something people should keep in mind when watching all the Vortex threads pop up. These scopes are incredibly popular, and you get a lot of scope for the price point. Based on sheer numbers and the affordable price point, it's understandable that perfect QC won't be there all the time. Vortex backs their product 100%, so buy with confidence. (No shill)

So, would that be the same motto NC Star lives by? :D
