(Post 71 confirms it, the turrets on the PST do not track in a square as they should)

(Last Update on Post 108)

So I bought a Vortex PST scope off the EE, got here fine, went to the range to test it's fnction and sure enough the windage knob is totally f**ked (internal only, looks ok on the outside). In addition, the elevation doesnt track 0.1MRAD/click.

So I find the 1-866 number for Vortex Canada expecting a recording before talking to someone; however, who should answer the phone but a very friendly and knowledgable staff member!

I knew about the VIP warranty going into the conversation, but when I asked if she could send me a brand new scope so I could get back in the hunting game, she one-uped me and said as soon as she can confirm she's got one on the self (Monday hopefully), she'll keep it from being sent to a vendor (who's begging for them I'm sure) and ship it to me, as soon as I can provide her with a CP tracking number!

Absolutly unbelieveable! Here I am, a total stranger calling to ask to have a scope replaced, and they're sending me a brand new one once I send them any package with a tracking number!

I seriously hope these waranties can be found in other scope manufatures, otherwise I'll never get rid of my new scope (well, maybe for a Razor...)

Just an FYI:cheers:

Who was the seller? Did you report him?

The seller claims to have never mounted it which would explain why he/she didnt know it was busted. I debated leaving neutral feedback for not ensuring the quality of the product, but I think the saying goes "let bygons be bygons" or whatever.

Due to the warranty and external condition of the scope, I'm not really that bothered.

The scorpion had a counter warranty, you take it where you bought it and they lierally handed you a new one for the old one

problem I had 2 both deffective, Jo Brooks took them both back no questions asked and full credit for a Vortex. Which has never even thought of giving me any trouble on a 7mm Magnum

You could put in the comments section the knob was f**kd and leave neutral feedback. Somebody else may not get so lucky with warranty. Was there an offer to take it back?? Still leaves a bad taste.

Leaves a bad taste for me too, but the response was sincere, dispite an offer to take it back (not like he'd ever get this jewel back form me anyway :p)

There's just not enough evidence to get nasty, and I'm not the nasty type to begin with. Benefit of the doubt has been given. A good lesson to me though; always ensure the quality of your product on the EE.

Maybe its just me, but I like a product with a good warranty... That I never have to use. A straight replacement is great, but it doesn't help when your optic fails in the middle of the sticks or at a match. I've read a fair number of returns and warranty stories regarding Vortex. I'll stick with Trijicon and Nightforce.

I have been using Vortex for over four years exclusively and I have not had a problem yet. The two times I used their warranty was both an issue of operator error and they came good on it both times, no questions asked.

To Haagen Dazs, glad to hear you got good customer service from them at Vortex Canada. I have been more than impressed every time I talk to them!

I had exactly the same experience when my SPARC needed work a few months ago.

These are great products beyond the budget of many, including myself.

I agree that we hear a lot of these stories, and was thinking the same thing for awhile. Then it occurred to me that these people are prolly on here posting because the service was so good. I'm sure there is tons of warranty claims made by members here with average or mediocre service being done, who don't come on here telling about it.

Exactly.

You get what you pay for. If a Nightforce or Trij is to much save up for a MARK 4. VORTEX is just tapping into that large market of people who are to afraid to invest $1000 plus into a really good scope. Why do you think they made the Razor? The PST cannot compete with the MARK 4/nightforce/Trij like I said you get what you pay for in a scope bottom line. Like the man said warranty means $hit when your scope fails you.

One of the reasons we carry Vortex is the warranty. Have we have 2-3 scopes break since we started selling them, yes. We replaced them over the counter for the customer no questions asked. Both scopes were still more than functional, they just developed a blemish.
