VP9 Torture test by Military Arms YouTube - Failed!

Has he done this same torture test on any other pistols yet? Without a baseline it is really impossible to have an opinion one way or the other. I know there have been lots of other "torture tests" by other youTubers, but I mean has THIS guy carried out THIS test with any other guns yet? A proper judgment can only be made if we're comparing apples to apples here....

Although that said, I do think he did a very good job of conducting an unbiased test and it relay does show the potential limitations of the SFP9/VP9 design as a full-on combat pistol. I would still be curious to see other guns run through this same test for comparison though.

wow... little bit disappointing. Did you guys see his Makarov test? Very very very impressive!

Not quite the same type of test though.
I'd think just about any pistol with its action open when dumped and left in mud is likely to jam.
This was not a will your pistol shoot while under water test? Unless you are a Seal/SBS operator..... The VP9 was dumped in a puddle with action closed then fired in open air.

I have no intention of selling my VP9 based on this or any test. Its still a fine pistol just not up to military standards.

My current thoughts exactly. Now I wonder how the M&P and PPQ would fare under similar torture testing?....

Wow, one of the reasons I don't come on gunnutz anymore.
MAC is a nice enough guy and offers videos that I'm sure help him pay the bills.

This is hardly a "scientific test". Come on, throwing the gun against a steel pepper popper? There are so many variables, distance, how hard you throw the gun, where the gun actually hits the popper.....do this 20 times and maybe you get 20 different results.

The last most comprehensive scientific and by far longest, most expensive test ever conducted on handguns was the US Department of Homeland Security testing. Millions spent on the testing. The results are not available to non-LE qualified people. They tested
everyone who dared to throw in for one of the biggest LE Pistol contracts ever awarded.....40 000 guns. Example, sand testing. They did heavy sand, medium sand, light sand. Put the guns in chambers to circulate the sand, same with mud dirt etc. The testing went on for months. Only two handguns passed the testing....HK and SIG. They were both awarded contracts to supply guns. I have a Glock, I've competed with Glock and won with it. I love Glocks....but it failed the DHL testing. Glock is an excellent pistol and well known for performing stringent testing. Prior to the DHL testing many thought that Glock had already had it won. DHL tested all the manufacturers who submitted to destruction and Glock failed. Would I still trust and carry the Glock? Absolutely, it's one of the best combat pistols ever produced.

The HK VP9 & SFP9 have passed all of the standard NATO tests and are NATO qualified. Not to say that MAC's testing is meaningless but it is not scientific and should not be relied on for procurement decisions.

Thanks for taking the time to post Rich, and adding your personal insight.

If say most would agree that the test is not scientific, even without the disclaimer by Mac.
Were the Sigs and HK's that passed the test you refer to hammer fired guns or striker?

Wow. Thanks for coming back for this. Really good stuff...

Can-down,

The DHS guns that won were the SIG P226 and the HK P2000. Both hammer fired guns. Non Disclosure Agreements are signed with the testing results, so sorry can't share them here.

Thanks for posting Rich.

We/I appreciate your input. Still I expected a better performance scientific or not.

Then again I had no intention of buying it before the video or after.

Cheers,

To all the fellas who are NOT going to buy this gun after seeing this review, NOBODY CARES!
It's your loss. For everyone else who enjoys this gun, myself included, rest assured you have:

The best looking modern striker fired handgun
The second best factory striker fired trigger, by a hair
The most comfortable ergonomic grip
Guaranteed accuracy beyond what you are capable of

For 99% of us who use this at the range, the sfp9 is almost perfection. To those who feel it's not up to par, go ahead and throw your glocks, sigs and berettas in water and mud and see if that makes you feel any better.

Who wouldn't want a gun the size of a Glock 17 with the capacity of a Glock 19? Totally makes sense.

Don't forget the awful magazine release.

Funny guy from States, learn restrictions in Canada. No matter which gun you get, it is 10 rnds only

I'm from Canada. Just because Canada has ####ed up laws does not make my point invalid. Grip length is easily the most important dimension when considering concealed carry. So if it is the size of a Glock 17 I want the advantage of a full 17 rounds for the trouble of concealing a full size pistol.
