I've never seen a locking block last close to 20,000rds. Most of the Berettaphiles suggest 5,000rds is the time to replace them. Also keep in mind that many departments use higher pressure HP loads too, this can affect component lifespans.
are you talking about 9mm or .40? it's normal that .40 won't last as long as 9mm because of the higher recoil (if I'd ever get a .40 Beretta it be a Brigadier or Elite model which has a stronger heavier slide). But for 9mm changing a locking block every 5K is as necessary as changing underwear every half an hour ;)

yes they are going Sigs. This has been in the works for awhile now. They will not go Glock due to a certain high ranking officer who's involved in the decision making process. The single biggest reason they are going to Sigs is because of a complete and total lack of support from the Beretta rep (guess who that is??). Which is really the same reason so many other departments have dumped Beretta.
Yes the .40's require more maintenance than the 9mm's. That's a proven fact. However properly maintained they will last as long as any other. But the maintenance is definitely more than with a 92.
If the Beretta rep for LE stuff didn't have their head stuffed so far up their ass they could've saved this contract and numerous others as well. One particular instance that I am still shaking my head over was the rep's pushing of the Vertec on the ERT guys instead of the GSD, which had all the things they wanted out of pistol. But no, instead they were made to take the Vertec. Yeah big guys with big hands needed the Vertec . The level of ineptitude from Beretta on dealing with any issues is stunning, and it's not just in Canada either. The civilian side actually gets treated much much better than the LEO side does these days.

ummm, well that has it than. Slavex, you should be the berreta rep, you probably have a better grasp on what these people need. lol

Quick Q, are PD beat cops permitted to bring their firearm to the range other then their qualifying per year? Have always been kinda curious about that...

Seems the trend these days is for compact ERT guys. At least over on the Island here. We call them "pocket ninjas". :p :D

Well Slavex has very good personal hygeine then:D

I have had both caliber guns operate, and neither went 20,000rds between locking block failure.

I am not sure if I'd want to rep Beretta for LE. The support from the company would have to be there, and Nichols just doesn't have the interest it seems. As well I am the first to admit that Beretta USA also has problems in this regard. Maybe things will change with the new PX4, but who knows?

If Nichols is the Beretta rep, then things are not going to improve much by adopting the SIGs as Nichol's is their rep too.
