VQ Summit 22LR

I have one of the original T3 summits. It is really really nice. I get a lot of friends wanting one after shooting it but the price tag often scared them away. I told myself I wanted atleast one ‘high end’ .22.

Amazing trigger and super light weight really spoils a guy. the straight pull bolt means i can mix my ammo, I can shoot sub sonics one day, then high velocity the next and need not to adjust the rifle. It is currently my only bolt action .22 and I doubt I’ll be getting another bolt .22 after shooting this one.

Late to the party, but I’ve got a couple of VQ Summit 22lr rifles. One has a 12.3” VQ barrel and the other is a factory built 16.5”. I don’t use these for groups so I can’t comment on accuracy. The shorty is for grouse and the longer one.. well I haven’t figured out what to do with that one yet. It just kind of sits here and stares at me.

I swap between the Aimpoint Micro and Leupold FX-1 4x28 Rimfire, depending on where I am. I consistently go for this over my DAR-22 with the same barrel. So much more fun to shoot for me for some reason.

Would be interesting to see accuracy of short vs longer barrel...How is the trigger ?

Thanx

The trigger is good. Similar to my Kidd single stage (but not as nice as the Kidd two stage). I’d take the Kidd trigger tho any day over these VQ ones.. they don’t fall apart randomly when you take them out. Haha.

Groups.. not going to happen. I don’t have time to group these plinkers, as pretentious as that sounds. Minute of grouse head is all I need!

Not to sound like a di$& but do you miss and ever wonder if you would have hit it if you were shooting more accurate ammo? 30 min of testing is worth hours of walking around looking for the birds you miss.

Shooting grouse heads doesn’t happen all the time - I have to be locked in and within reasonable distance.

I definitely shoot paper with each new lot of ammo and make sure my optic is dialed. And I did take this 12.3” Summit out last week to shoot some steel along with a 9” X-Ring TD. But I only took them to 100 yards as the red dot gets hard to shoot when the target is bare steel.. I meant that I don’t sit there like I used to and shoot paper targets all day until I get perfect groups to post in the other thread. Lol.

As far as shooting groups go I save that for the Vudoo and Anschutz 54s. And even then I only shoot them to dial my scope, verify that lot of ammo and get chrono data, then it’s all steel targets and matches from there. Groups on paper are boring and subjective with 22lr to me.

Anyways I’m derailing this topic. Apologies OP.
