VX1-6 compared to Vortex strikeeagle 1-6 ???:)

Hey there , I know the Leopold should be a lot more scope, but what exactly am I getting for $800 more , for the VX 6 1-6?

These are the 2 scopes that interest me for my MV. I'm pretty much tapped out on the gun but if the VX 6 1-6 offers $800 more then I'll find a way to get it.

The gun will be used for target and plinking.. Maybe a coyote .. If I ever see one:)

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated .
 
I haven't used a Vortex 1-6x, but I can give insight into the Leupold VX-6 1-6x24. I had the VX-6, but sold it. Selling it was a mistake, I regretted it and had to wait 2 years to find another used one at a good price. The image is bright and clear, the illumination system is great (I went for the illuminated version as on 1X it functions like a red dot sight). I went for the Leupold as I wanted a top notch dangerous game hunting scope that would also work for general deer, bear, and moose hunting.

I am admittedly picky about optics. However the question seems to be, would I pay the extra if I wasn't going to use it for serious hunting ? And I think that to be honest if I wanted a scope for plinking and the occasional coyote I would save my money and try a vortex.
 
Thanks, the only thing stopping me from a Strike Eagle would be the clarity. Im finding that clarity is an important deciding factor for me. And I'm assuming for $800 more the VX 6 should have excellent Clarity.
 
i dont understand how can you compare a $500 scope with $1300 one .
i love my Vortex strike eagle for competition shooting , clear enough for me . if you not really sure or into long range hunting then go for Vortex , its the best one you can get with this price range

Ya I hear ya, not so much trying to compare I guess. But trying to find out what the $800 extra gets me, will I be happy with the Eagles clarity etc. I think I'll save a few more bucks and get the VX 6. At least I'll be sure .
 
One thing to consider: the Canadian distributor for Leupold (who is awesome!) can not currently repair VX-6 scopes. They go to the states. Mine has been gone for 6 months, and no word.
 
If you can't afford the Leupold, get the cheaper scope. Be aware though that most asian factories crank out several name brand scopes on the same production lines. Same tooling, same people. Vortex is just another name marked on the tube at a different price point. Burris, Bushnell, Nightforce, even the lower price European stuff that's supposedly "German glass". The quality isn't really any different. I say pick the one that looks the best to you on the outside because the insides are probably the same.
