It was Korth that said that they weren't going to fix scopes that they hadn't brought in...I don't know if they followed through on that threat, and don't know anyone who got turned down for warranty.
Well, technically, Leupold will warranty it, but Korth's doesn't have too. If it was brought in the country illegally (or not through them) they can tell you to send it to Leupold in Oregon.
Korth can make all the noise they want but in the end they work for, are contracted by, or are under licence by Leupold... Leupold will have the final say on what work is covered under warranty and I hope/trust Leupold is unwilling to sacrifice it's well earned reputation by leaving customers hanging out to dry.
I am one of the guys that jumped thru the hoops to bring one in from the US, and as luck would have it I needed warranty work. (the lens had dust on it inside the scope) When they asked I was upfront about where I got it, and they told me I would have to go thru the US warranty center, and infact gave me a bit of attitude. I called the US center, and explained to them what happened - the lady took the name of who I spoke to and told me she would call me back. 3 mins later she called me back and told me to call the Alberta center again, and that things were taken care of. I did, and the girl now was more than willing to help.
