VX3i cds zl 4.5 14 50 compared VX5HD

Hey
Anybody have any experience with both these scopes?
I can get the vx3i cds zl 4.5-14 $1000 all in
Or the vx5hd 3.5 -15 for $1400 all in.
So,is the vx5 worth the extra $400?

The big difference is glass quality and glass coatings, brighter, clearer, better fov and eye relief. The 5HD also has the zero lock and a few other improvements.

Zero lock is one of things I'm wanting, as well.
The new VX3i has the zero lock as well.
I guess it's the VX5 then.

^^^^ so much this!! Also the VX-5HD gives you more magnification range than the VX3i. This is exactly why I now have 2 VX-5HD and 2 VX-6HD scopes. Out of the VX-5HD or VX-6HD I think the VX-5HD is by far the best bang for your buck though.

Brian, I can pretty much guarantee you that you'd regret buying the VX3i instead of the VX-5HD. The 2 optics aren't even playing in the same league.

I have also started moving into the vx5hd last 2 scopes have been the 5hd and there is definitely an improvement. I’m sure the 6HD is an excellent scope but the 5hd is a great scope at a “reasonable” value IMO
 
I've used both. The vx5hd 3-15x44 cds-zl2 has a larger ocular than the vx 3i 4.5-14x40 cds-zl and has also a wider magnification range. Only downside is it's a little bigger, heavier and more $. The Vx3i isn't a bad scope if you want to keep the weight down. If weight isn't an issue check out the vx5hd 3-15x44 cds-zl2, you won't be disappointed.
