I just bought a VZ-24 in 30-06 real nice rifle, laminated stock and steel buttplate/with curved bolt. It feels like a very well made rifle, whats up are these good as they feel rifles?

Bob:)

Hi Bob.
Did you purchase a post war Norweigan issue K98k Mauser? The VZ-24 action is excellent and is often referred to as the best mauser action never made in Germany.

It says ceskoslovensKaZbrnoJovka .As,Brno And below that VZ-24.

And where there would be a crest stamp there is BR 10045.then ahead of the crest on the barrel is stamped 30-06!

Vz24

Obviously a re-work of some kind. Norwegian conversions have a flat milled on the leftside receiver ring with new Norwegian serial#. Norwegian converted K98's I've seen listed or owned were based on early-mid war German made rifles that were all matching ,superior condition examples when captured. Not to say Brno Vz24 Norwegian conversions dont exist however.
Pics sure would help.
Cheers
Geoff

If she's Norweigan the markings should look like this
(Hope Plamamondon doesn't mind)

Numerous military K98's were barrelled for the .30-06. Some were made for South American Countries like Brazil with their M954. The Belgian Congo also enlisted a short mauser in .30-06 called the M1950. We really need pictures to be able to help you.
