VZ-52/57 take-down (work in progress)

I actually had the honour of shooting about 5 rounds through a very good condition one today at the gun club.
It is a very very nice rifle.
A joy to handle, shoots very well. About as good as any CZ 858 I ever shot.
It's like an SKS done right lol
It's a shame they are so few and far between and even more of a shame the ammunition is rare as hens teeth and as expensive as gold :(

It's one of my Favorite rifles.

it really is much more accurate than sks
it is really more beautiful
when I see people put $ 500 on a sks D I do not understand
this is the best 7.62 * 39

Here's my question: Are there any stripper clips for the vz-52/57? Sks/cz-858 are too wide for the guide, as are the Vz-52 ones, I bought a bunch. The last few purchases I made were incorrect as well, I was sent mauser clips, 7.62x51 clips...

The stripper clips for the VZ 52 are the same as the ones for the 52/57. I had a hard time with mine as well, the reason being that when the rifles were refinished the paint ( or what ever it is ) covers the slot where the stripper clip is inserted and reduces clearance. Carefully clean the paint from that area and if you have the right clips you will be good to go.

Thank you sir! You were correct. The paint is fairly thick, and the clearance on the stripper guide is very narrow. Happy days!

Just got mine as well. Had to pay 650 But I did get 2 Mags and a stripper clip. Now I have to find a sling and a cleaning kit.

Found a new youtube video

Hi thanks for the thread, did the breakdown. I want to replace the firing pin on my Vz 52 / 57. Can anyone direct me to the information on how this is done. I also want to clean the spring as I see a small amount of stuff near the front end.

My 52 / 57 is one of the most reliable rifles I have.
It digests virtually anything without a bobble and absolutely loves Federal ammo and reloads.
I do not feed it any corrosive milsurp stuff at all and maybe thats why it works so well..

This is an excellent thread.

I just bought a 52/57 and generally love it. I was hoping to see some information on how to adjust the front site. My rifle shoots to the left noticeably and the front post is set a little to the right. Its hard for me to see if the adjustment is made by a hex key or something else. It doesnt look like there is any sort of fastener head here:
