I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with the zahal bolt catch/release and if it works with the zahal mag release and how they compare in quality to the bc tactical bolt and mag release. My bc tactical bolt release fails to engage when resting the rifle on the magazine, something it never did before. Also the extended magazine release protruded so far from the rifle that it would hit my gear and detach the mag. I have the vz which has a more functional trigger guard that doesn't impede magazine release anyways, which I felt made the bc tactical mag release a liability on a vz where it was actually semi functional on a cz, due to the weird way the cz trigger guard appears to have been designed to impede.

My second question is of ambi safety selector, I thought zahal made one but I did a quick scan of the 9 pages of aftermarket stuff on zahal's website but didn't see a ambi safety maybe I missed it but no matter, does any one else other then zahal (assuming they make on at all) make an ambi safety

I have an oversized Dlask mag release which is simply fantastic. That is mated with a Corwin bolt release. This combo works flawlessly.

I had an NEA ambi safety which broke, I have a Corwin ambi safety however it doesn't work with the CSA gun I have. I think it was designed around the 858 rifle.

I think there is an ambi safety still made. Not sure though.

At this point I don't know of anyone making one that'll just drop fit a CSA VZ58.

I broke the bank by using a Zendl bolt release/mag release combo. Works top notch with zero fitting or function problems.

I really like it and works well for a right handed shooter. The selector, mag release, and bolt release can be all operated with your index finger. Although I would like to change the trigger guard to the CZ style with the mag release lever guard instead of the straight CSA style.

Oh god why man?? The cz trigger guard is despicable, it is one of the reasons I went with csa, although I might have come to regret csa over cz for quality reasons. A cz with csa trigger guard and a dlask mag release and zahal bolt release would be hard to beat.

Also where can I find one of those bolt releases and for how much?

I guess your right, never used a 858 with the original trigger guard so my opinion is void. The lack of steel around the mag release helps with quick changes. But this Zendl set up is damn sweet. No regrets with the $. It's very fast and reliable with zero time with a bastard.

I agree. '13 proofed CSAs are a gamble. Having firing pin protrusion problems with mine. Very close to giving Movie Arms a call.

I got a csa 18.5 from a dude here on cgn who got a warranty replacement, sold me a brand new rifle. It fired 71 shots before the bolt broke I sent it in, they "repaired" it then it came back stove piping, then the stove piped casing broke the rear sight I ignored it hoped it would go away, it didn't, and then the firing pin broke. So obviously I sent it back to movie arms now they are sitting on it. I hope they give me the best rifle they have to make up for it. Then I might sell it and buy a cz unless someone wants to trade a cz for a vz. But 99% of cz's are now prohib and I haven't seen any of prohibs for sale on the EE and god knows what the Cpc is going to actually get done in reversing any of this crap, so I am guessing the cz's are probably going to stay in cosmoline for a while. I'm thinking ar-15? Man this sucks. Does anyone have a csa that has made it to 10,000 rounds with out breaking? Because I know the cz's used to be able to make such claims if you didn't get a lemon. Seems if you get a csa you are taking a big chance. I don't mean to cut up movie arms as an importer, their warranty is great and they are super friendly but if you have a rifle you "depend on" are you going to go with csa or cz?

As I indicated; problems with some '13 proofed rifles. Who knows, they could have been training new staff. And many could have been "trainee" built. The '14s have been flawless AFAIK.

Gave my '13 a test run. 100 rounds of Barnual with zero problems. Tulamma and LCW blew my firing pin out of the bolt after 10 or so rounds.

The Vz58 is a great weapon... But finicky and sensitive. Find it's niche and your golden.

Yah but these are supposed to have been built to be machine guns, the RCMP say the cz's are converted machine guns and the vz-58's were built to be machine guns but never assembled or what have you. the point I am trying to make is these were supposed to be military grade rifles capable of withstanding seriously adverse conditions and I just didn't get that kind of confidence from my rifle, neither did the previous owner and I know a lot of people feel that way too. Also I doubt the Czech army were using such nice ammo as lcw or Barnaul instead they were using Czech or soviet corrosive surplus, I would imagine. I didn't myself serve in the Czech Warsaw army.

Best set up I had on an 858 was NEA bolt catch and mag release and a Corwin ambi-release. I've had Corwin mag and bolt too and liked them. Just prefer the NEA and Corwin combo. No matter what, though, every CZ required fitting. Dremel fitting.
