I'm looking for recommendations on a compact optical scope for my Vz.58 (preferably from a site sponsor). I'm using the side rail mount made by CSA so I'd like to stick with the picatinny rail system and low profile given that the CSA mount is already a bit over the receiver. Budget is unfortunately a few hundred at most, but this is a Vz.58, not a long distance rifle, I'm shooting 200-300 yards at most.

I noticed that Marstar has a selection of NCStar brand compact optics, any good?

Any recommendations?

5.56 or 7.62x39?

I have a compact Belomo 3.5x17.5 scope with illumination. Great little scope. I had it on my Vz58 in 7.62x39 and it worked well, but the mount I had wouldn't keep zero. Plus the 958 was announced and I opted to wait for that platform instead.

NC Star isn't the worst. I had a 2-7 on my nagant for a while and it was reliable, and held zero.

The gun doesn't kick hard so I'm sure it will work for you. A great resource is amazon. Check the reviews on the scope before you buy.
