My 2 Cents:

.223

Pro's: Nicer to shoot because of the small recoil, ammo is plentiful, cheap, and there is a lot to choose from.

Cons: Magazines are plastic. Not sure of how reliable. Maybe they're amazing, I don't know. But metal is better. You can get the AR magwell adapter and use AR mags but how durable is the adaptor? lol



7.62x39

pros: metal mags are solid as hell. This is the original round the rifle was designed for. Maybe fewer problems with this caliber?

Cons: Have heard the recoil is a little on the heavy side. Harder to keep on target for follow up shots if hunting. Also, ammo choices are pretty limited unless you want to shoot corrosive which some people aren't interested in.



If you don't mind the harder recoil and shooting corrosive, I'd say take the 7.62x39 in a heartbeat. If you like shooting better quality ammo with little recoil, choose the .223 model.

Did I say that there would be no choice but to shoot corrosive? Where did I say that? Please stop creating phrases out of thin air that I never said. Why would you exaggerate like that? That is so annoying.

And all of those companies may make FMJ, non-corrosive ammo. But good luck finding it.

I checked ammosupply and theammosource for .223 and I’m not even going to bother typing it all out. There’s too much selection for me to type. Ammunition made in the USA that’s high quality.

The last few LGS’s I visited had craploads of federal, Winchester, Hornady, and Remington .223 ammo. They only had surplus 7.62 rounds. Looks like it’s a similar situation online.

One thing to keep in mind when accepting advice on this forum............some guys will tell you what to buy because it's what THEY bought, and telling others to buy the same thing helps them feel affirmed in their own minds that they bought the best thing. It doesn't mean they're right. It's like when those "4 must have guns" threads pop up every now and again. You get people listing guns like the KSG. And it's like, really? The KSG is a 'must have' gun? But it makes them feel good to suggest guns to others that they own. I'm not saying the KSG isn't a good gun, but come on. Would you take it over something more serious like a Mossberg 590A1 or a Benelli M4? Come on. The best advice you can get is from people who are giving you the pro's and cons. Obviously there are pro's and con's to every single firearm and they should be analyzed when making a decision.

I'm sure you're going to enjoy the 7.62x39 if thats what you get, but you would probably enjoy the .223 just as much. CSA has amazing customer service and fully stand behind every rifle they produce. If you did have any problems with a .223 version they'd sort it out for you and make sure it worked perfectly before long.
 
After sleeping on my decision i don't like recoil and getting on target is more important also i have seen the ammo for the 7.62 compaired to the 5.56nato i think a 5.56 would be a better choice for me thank you for all the pros and cons appreciate that
