Hey guys,

Hope this is the right section. I just want to share with you all a catatrophic fail i had on my brand new csa vz58. Was out shooting yesterday. Shoot 20 rounds without issue. Load up thr next mag, fire one shot, go to fire the next and "click". So the gun was light striking and not setting off the primer. So i tried 5 more rounds and they all clicked execpt for the last one, here is where it got scary. The barrel had ended up shifting itself forward so there was part of the sheel not in thr chamber when it went off. Ballooned the casing right up. I am lucky i was using steel cases. If i was using brass i could have had a bad day. 25 rounds and the gun almosy maimed me. Cant say i am too impressed with csa right now.

seeing as how the barrel is pressed in and not threaded i am somewhat surprised it took this long for a rifle to slip through the quality cracks

Ya sorry no pics of the actual gun. I returned it too thr store i bought it from immediatly after this failure. Lets put it this way. The barrel was so far the handguard came of, we are talking about a quarter inch of movment. I do have pics of the shell it mushroomed. I will post them very soon.

There is a cross pin to hold it in place. Pressed in is not a bad thing.

No pics of the gun but pics of the casing?

As I said before, I shot 25 rounds on a brand new gun. The 25th round ballooned due to the fact it being stuck in the extractor and the barrel being a quarter inch to far forward. The first 20 rounds went smooth, but was getting light strikes after. The 25th round shot cause it was stuck in the extractor but not far enough in the chamber. The bulge on the back of the casing was where it wasn't in the chamber all the way. As soon as that happened I drove back to the gun store to return it and tell them it almost maimed me. Didn't have time or even think to take pics I was all flustered. Check this out though.

if it was tabbed, it could also be abit of extra metal that is inhibiting the action from easily closing
which i have experience with...
- in that case, the excess weld had to be dremeled down abit, and the action will easily close...
otherwise ... it could leave the action up a little ( and depressing the trigger will set off the firing pin, even though action isn't fully shut )

are you sure action was completely shut..

I'm very surprised that case didn't fail. You got lucky.

Too bad you didn't take a closer look at the rifle. They must have forgotten to install the pin.

Did the gun blow up? What exactly saved you from being maimed? Safety glasses?
Guns are mechanical in nature and sometimes when they are not running correctly it's good to determine why, instead of just trying to make it shoot despite the issue.
I'm glad you were not maimed.

The shell not blowing up......ok guys like I realize I am a noob on these forums but I am not an idiot in real life. Yes, the action was closed all the way. I repeat....Shot 20 rounds no issues. Shot 5 other rounds, lights strike on the first 4 and if you look at the primer the strikes get lighter and lighter on each one meaning? The barrel was slowly shifting forward(didn't realize this right away, thought it had something to do with hard surplus primers), so 25 rounds total, 20 fire, 4 light strike, and 1 almost blows. Opened the action, saw the barrel moved forward quarter inch, also the front hand guard was now loose with about a quarter inch play. Drove it right back to the store I bought it and returned it, its defective.
