I am going to be buying a VZ-58 from Marstar very soon. It will require accessories capable of mounting a Eotech red-dot, a foregrip, a flashlight, and a single/two point sling. It will be abused a LOT. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

vz58.net has everything you want short the eotech. They have good stuff but in some cases you may pay for it. If you are really gonna beast the thing a steel or carbon fiber quad rail hand guard would be what your looking for. That will let you mount basically anything you want on there. Keep in mind.. some quad rail systems will kill your ability to use iron sights.

I posted this in the Bi-Pod thread, but it might apply here as well. The FAB Defense Fore-stock assembly is good (Israeli made) but might suffer from softening under fully automatic, or extended fire (such as is required in combat). You can buy a ridiculously expensive version from The Czech Republic (Brugger & Thomet) that solves said issue, but it costs as much as a WASR and takes 3 months to get; minimum. However, if you line the lower fore-stock assembly of the FAB Defense version with heat reflective tape (make sure to custom mount the bonded tape so that it does not obstruct the vent holes in the lower fore-stock) you can eliminate the inherent weakness of the polymer material for a fraction of the price.

I can only assume that you are a PMC planning for deployment, and I hope that is the case here. I, personally, find nothing wrong with using a semi-automatic rifle in a combat situation, but many others like the "spray & pray" option in a pinch. If you are the kind of man that can take aimed shots under fire then using a semi-automatic version of the Vz should work just fine, but keep in mind: "every man should know his limitations." FAB Defense (call "Addy" at The Mako Group) and Command Arms are your friend in this regard (I'm from Texas btw, so I don't know if this will help you if you are Canadian) Best of luck.

P.S. If you are deploying to Iraq or Afghanistan then finding spare parts should not be an issue as the Police Forces (and many insurgents) in the OPA use the VZ.58. It's a fine rifle, and a deadly opponent.

Screw a couple lengths of 1913 rail to the lower handguard for the foregrip and flashlight mount, and drill and tap another 1913 rail to the upper handguard, to the metal, not through the wood. Use an Aimpoint to avoid heat issues. I don't think you'll need the fore-grip. It can't be mounted too far to the rear or be too long, otherwise it interferes with the mag change. I prefer a mag-well hold.

The folding stock has a loop to run a single point or if you keep the fixed, you can just use a loop adaptor around the wrist of the butt.

I have to concur with Stevo on the magwell hold in a serious situation. My Vz is designed for sport shooting/fun. Please keep this in mind. I have my TPOD mounted far enough forward that it does not interfere with changing the mag, but then again, I'm not staining my pants while doing it. The enemies of my Vz are mostly beer cans at 100 yards. :)
