vz-58 loctite stock removal Please help

Loctite

Blue Loctite just requires a big screwdriver. If its red loctite - Use a torch - something around 400 degrees for a couple or 3 minutes -I forget exactly. Last time I did it I applied the torch on the back of the screw until I was afraid the paint would burn . Loosen while hot or the locktite hardens again as it cools. It can be done without burning paint.
You may get lucky with out heat if the red was put on sparingly or on an improperly degreased thread.
Oh yeah - put the rifle in a padded vise - you get more torque with your screwdriver that way

I was told if I let it soak in some WD-40 it should do the trick? any Ideas?

I looked in the VZ-58 and more FAQs but didnt see anything about loctite I swear to god its in so good its like its been welded lol.

would gasoline eat away the loctice enough to free it?

Or head it with a soldering Iron is what everyone say on google but it s a big bolt. thanks for your help so far guys

I was at Canadian tire yesterday and bought a nice little soldering torch well actually 2 it was a combo pack for $9.99 put the hot flame on the bolt for a minute or so and then I was able to unscrew it...... Never use red loctite on something you intend to take apart again lol:runaway:

Use one of those mini butane torches to heat the screw then drip wax from a lit candle onto the screw. Allow to partially cool. Does the trick for me.

Could you take a picture of this process? I've never heard anyone doing it.

Deckard your in luck heres step by step pics and info. Heat is only needed if its red locktite and in this case there was alot:runaway:

Tools you need, dremel with cutting disk, Large flat head screwdriver, a torch best if its a small flame to avoid damage to the finish as its easier to control the flame and of course alot of Patience.

First I took the dremel and cut the slot in the bolt deeper so the screw driver would sit nice otherwise it just keeps slipping out, also make the bolt easier to install nice and tight and remove.

Then wrap a towel around the back of the rifle or you will burn the hell out of your hand and remove the pistol grip to make sure its not damaged by the heat it . Take your torch and heat the head of the screw/bolt up for at least a minute it depends on how hot flame is, red locktite breaks down at 350-400* you should notice a little bit of smoke coming off.

****IF you have a solid stock thats has been loctited you can heat the bolt up from the inside of the receiver just make sure you dont flame anything but the bolt****

Last but not least Take your large flat head screwdriver It and try and turn the screw Mine came out first try if it does not come out you did not use enough heat or did not heat it long enough Just reheat and try again.

After the bolts out clean the threads I used an old .45 bore brush. Hope this helps someone. Here the end result

Final word NEVER use red loctite on something you plan on taking off or if you do tell the buyer :runaway::runaway:
