Hi all
My first post on this board
I almost finished with my first Vz58 build and im already planing a second
Build. My plan is to adapte a 20" or longer barrel for longer range targets using only optics.
My questions are has anyone already done this and will a longer barrel
afect the gas piston system

Thanks

BTW this board is great

People have rebarreled, i know Dlask does the work. A longer barrel will increase the gas pressure on the system, but the 18.5" versions run great i doubt another 2" would make much of a difference.

With the 7.62x39 cartridge, I am not sure that you are going too gain much with anything much longer than 18.5 inches.

:agree:

It's a .311 bore, that uses less powder than a .223 round. There's not a whole lot of powder left to push anything by the time it hits the end of the barrel. If anything, unless you have a very heavy barrel, a longer barrel would just be more susceptible to barrel whip, which would degrade accuracy. I think a regular length heavy barrel would be a better way to meet your goals of better accuracy, as it would be stiffer. There really is not much to be gained ballistically.
