I'm thinking about putting one on and want to hear every bodies opinion on the matter. The Csa side mount looks too high for practical use with a wood butt stock and the dust cover mount is a bit high. Anyone know if it will retain zero? Is it really worth it?

Thanks.

Hey mate - there is a thread on this 3-4 pages into the RR archives. Try shooting it without an optical crutch first. The irons are far superior to an sks....

Granted I don't use a wooden stock on my rifle, but so far the newer/shorter CSA side-mount has been nothing but reliable and convenient. Holds zero fine and when I feel like using the comblock sights, I can just pull a lever and be optic-less within seconds.

UNHINGED explain to me how you would get any lower of an optic rail on the vz platform then the dustcover mount. It is literally just a pic rail milled into the recover. Its the lowest mount you can buy and the best mount for this rifle in my opinion. Will hold zero better then everything else. Ive had em all and this one worked for me. Others have different opinions and i totally respect em. But if your look for the lowest this is it.

I like the CSA low mount. It's quick detach so you can take down for cleaning w/o tools like the dustcover mount. It sits a bit high with an eotech, but if you found a low profile red dot you would honestly be fine. The CSA low mount gets really low to the dust cover too.

I've got that option on mine but for me I need it to shoot inside one hundred which is totally doable with the irons...

Thanks VanIsleCam i messaged him but got nothing back. Ya the cya side mount always seemed to loosen up on me overtime i took it off and went to go reattach it so I needed a tool anyways for it. So that rear dust cover has three mounting points so it doesn't move at all.

I thought he meant the price was high . . .

But technically you can get lower with some of the handguard rail systems. Legend tells of the NEA rail and its mystical co-witnessing abilities.

I'm partial to the dust cover and low side rail mounts myself . . .

Tv presspass i honestly forgot about the nea rail system, its funny because i have one on my rifle hahaha. So the nea rail would be your lowest mount. Im honestly not a huge fan of the co witness, way to much going on.

I had them both they work either way for me. Sold both after never finding a optic I liked tho. I ended up shooting better with irons anyway.

I was happier with the CSA one.

I found the CSA side mount was a ##### to get locked on right, either too loose and moved around, or another turn of the screw would make it too hard to remove. I went with a railed fore end that allows you to use the irons with the red dot removed.

I got the side-mount and got too annoyed with how it was not perfectly center over my rifle. Being left handed, left primary eye, it would not do. Ended up getting the dust cover version from Corwin and have not looked back since.

Accessory rail in use ...

You can employ the optional insert rail with the CZ-TKR but occasional stove pipes will be the result. Without the insert rail the CZ-TKR runs flawlessly.
The insert rail was really designed to work in the SKS-TKR where it performs well, but will also fit the CZ. Use with full knowledge of what you may have to deal with.

Enables strippers if anyone wants to strip load into the magazine. I mainly included this shot so you could see the open configuration of the TKR and how it avoids FTE issues.

This is a 7" long scope attached to the CZ-TKR. I deliberately set it as far back as I could to see if the shoulder of the ejection port of the TKR would protect it.
People with long arms, beware! LOL.

It appeared to be a success, as not a single ejected case came in contact with the optic. We are in the process of designing a shell deflector to integrate with this system.

I should add that the TKR gives about an extra inch of rail compared to a receiver cover type mount, and of course you have an additional section of rail on the other side of the ejection area.
