Hey, first time posting here. I tried a search multiple times and came up with nothing so I'm sorry if this is a repost.

I just got out for the first time with my VZ and it blew a casing in half. I have no manual and was not able to find anything on line. Is this just due to over gassing? Anybody else have this issue? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It is Norinco .223 if that helps

Have not tried another ammo. Was so pissed off that I cased the gun and shot my .308
The ammo shot fine out of another m4 there that a guy had so I know it wasn't the ammo.

Over gassed seems to have become the CGN word of the year, like "selfie". Eveyones useing it but most don't know what it means

What you have is a head space issue.
Those VZ 58 in .223. Are s""t simple as that.

Headspace would be my vote. Headspace can be cartridge headspace or rifle headspace.

Do you have a .223 gauge to check the cases? Does the firearm work with another brand/lot of ammo?

Jesus! That's some scary stuff. I'd be looking to send that in for some warranty work no doubt. No problems with my 2011 rifle thus far so some of these rifles actually do work properly. Good luck bud and let us know how things pan out for you.

Over gassed is when your gas tap is drilled too large and the gun launches spent brass 4 - 5 meters instead of 1 - 2 meters. I've used that Norinco 5.56 though my Vz 58 without issue. Only thing it did was crush the neck shut then when my buddy tried the same ammo though his Mini 14, it also crushed the neck shut. That AE AR-15 55gr almost gets crushed shut and the AE 62gr gets a little dent in it. Better quality brass is my guess. Doesn't leave a mark to steel cased MFS.

Lot haters for the .223 Vz 58 around here. Most have never owned one. Mine hit its 800th round count this weekend and its still working just fine although the C-Product LAR-15 magazines have been giving it feeding issues. Send a message to CSA not us. CSA will give you a way better answer then anyone on this site. They respond late at night since they're 8hrs ahead time zone.

Took it into P&D today and apparently this problem is not uncommon even with the 7.62's
Headspace and over pressure issue as the norinco are hotter loads than regular american brass. Thinner casing from what I can guess.
I'm shipping it off to TO for warranty work and was told it should eat anything after I get it back.

Hopefully problem solved!
