Hey,

New to the VZ. 58 platform and not to familiar with it. Replacing the Collapsable M4 stock that came on it with a FAB buffer tube and MAGPUL stock. Can't find to much on how the factory stocks are mounted, so I'm assuming its a matter of taking off the factory buffer tube and getting to the retaining screw thats going into the receiver. My question is how do you go about removing the buffer tube. I see there is a ring on the threaded end of the tube thats tight to the piece mounting to the receiver. Is it a matter of budging that off and then unscrewing the buffer tube to access the screw thats into the receiver?

Thanks,
Lorne

I modified/basterized my armorer's wrench to remove and tighten mine. Had to grind the tines thinner to fit the castle nut on the tube. There are others who use modified vise-grips to do the same thing.

You need a castle nut wrench.
You're in Edmonton. Pretty sure you can get one from P&D, Milarm or Cabela's. Mine came from Amazon.ca.

Get a small punch and give it a little knock. It will loosen it enough so you can turn it by hand.
This. I don't personally see the need to purchase a $30+ tool when a flathead screwdriver and hammer work just as well, especially if you're not switching out buffer tubes on a regular basis.
