Vz-58 vs sks

So I have some gun funds waiting around and have been thinking of getting a VZ58. Problem is I already have a 1954 Izzy SKS, it shoots very well. So would getting a VZ58 be redundant considering I have a SKS, or is the VZ58 appreciably different that I would notice
 
I wouldn't consider it redundant. The Vz58 is more accurate, has superior ergonomics and handling, lighter, detachable magazines along with the ability to use stripper clips... Did I say more accurate? The only thing the SKS has on the Vz58 is reliability... Oh, and price.

Yes they are noticeably different. Personally, I think they make a good pair.
 
I've personally never liked the look of the VZ. Im sure it performs and functions excellent.
But if I had one it would make me feel like I should be wearing a black leather jacket, track pants, listening to techno while racing around in a Audi through downtown Sarajevo.

I would think redundant.... i have an sks in the ati stock with the tapco mags, and to me it looks rather similar, i cant speak for the VZ but i would be shooting the same surplus through both, so accuracy is up in the air. Price tag for me is the difference, you could buy two sks and keep one stock and bubba out the other and it would still be cheaper to do than buy a VZ, boo urns to big price tags
 
I have a 54 Russian, a Chinese military and a VZ, the SKS is junk compared to the VZ. I have over 2500 rounds through my VZ and not a single issue. Both my SKS fail to feed occasionally, the triggers suck and the Chinese stove pipes the last live round almost every time. The only reason I like the SKS is because it's a cheap semi auto with some history.
 
I have three SKS's, a VZ58 and share ownership of an '05 CZ858 - you will still want to shoot them all and they each offer something different.

The SKS's are a lot of fun. All bone stock, all decently accurate.
The VZ58 is fantastic - BC Tactical Handguards, Magpul AFG, Czech special forces two piece brake. Very accurate
The CZ858 is bone stock and also fantastic. Very accurate.

I regret nothing :)

I don't think that sks has anything on the vz in the reliability department either.
 
I have three SKS's ( 2 Russian 1 Chinese) and my Cz858, I think both rifles complement each other. The CZ to me is a mini, more refined SKS with detachable mags, it's pretty much superior to the SKS in every way other than perhaps sheer toughness/durability. I do really appreciate the chrome lining in my SKS's, something my CZ is very sadly lacking.
Both rifles are fun and different, really no reason to not own both.
 
I have a russian sks, vz58 and a cz858. I enjoy them all but the 858 is my favorite. The Czechs look very cool and unique, are accurate, and are super fast to disassemble. I like my sks but it feels like im shouldering a small child after shooting the much lighter twins!
 
Thanks for the replies guys, took the SKS out today and I'm still not sure. If you could have 10 rounds in the VZ-58, it would be a no brainer. I just think that the 30 round mags cut off at 5 are crappy, I like the way they look but hate our stupid magazine laws. I do like the M-4 stock and weight of the VZ-58 (I shouldered one at a local shop). Just not sure if I want to fork out 5x the cost of my SKS for a gun that is similar in function. My SKS is decently accurate and a laminate Izzy with chrome bore, so I will keep it no matter what. Perhaps I have some more thinking to do.
