I picked up a side plate, side scope mount, rings, and scope combo deal off the EE. The gun is pretty cool I tried it out today. However, it was pissing rain and blowing strong winds so sighting in was pretty much a waist of time. I have an extra set of low profile rings I'm going to swap for it to lower the scope and I need to get a clip on cheek riser. I've seen them before and they're not the ones for Magpull stocks its actually for standard AR stocks. If anyone knows where I can get one of those please let me know in the comments.

The rifle is now pretty heavy with this set up. It may feel heavier because I can only get a chin weld with it. The feature that allows you to still use the iron sights with your optics is a really redundant feature. Its either you use optics or you don't and the side scope mount comes off fast in the event the optics break for some reason. Since the rifle is pretty heavy now, I may set it up to be a 400 meter DMR. In that case id like to get the bipod that goes on the bayonet lug and also the Crown Arms muzzle break.

The rifle functioned very well. No brass was hitting the scope and since I bent the last round bolt hold open tab, the only magazine that failed to hold it open once was the 5/30 USGI magazine but the 10rd LAR-15 magazine held it open every time. I was getting 1" 5 shot groups at 50 meters with it but at 100 meters it was all over the place. I guess it has something to do with the ####ty weather. I did however get one 2.5" group at 100 meters today. I also don't understand the scope. On the elevation adjustment, there is also a knob that goes from 1 - 5 and I don't understand what its for. If anyone know what that's for please let me know in the comments.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures, I didn't have my digital camera with me.

Looks good, scope does seem to sit a bit high.

What about the low profile mount instead of the high one you have now???

Also lower rings could help the situation

The low profile mount is what I wanted but, this whole set up was $112 on the EE. Scope, rings, side mount, and side plate. I plan on trying to trade this scope for a 1-4x20mm. I tried the low profile scope rings my Ruger 10/22 has but the scope bottoms out but I tried the small scope from my 10/22 on the Vz 58 and its kind of nice for height wise. All I would need is a half inch cheek riser and it would be perfect.

You could also look at getting a compact RD sight which would sit lower on the mount and be fine out to 2-300yrds. It would lighten up that rig a bunch.

That's another consideration I had. The side rail itself is fairly light. The scope however. I test fitted my friends 1-4x20mm scope on this last night with ultra low rings. The rear bell actually goes lower than the rail if you mount it correct and when testing it, I felt like I didn't even need a cheek riser although a 1/4" extra height would still be nice.
