VZ. 58 With wood from Wolverine

Looks absolutely amazing got a few sets and a few myself gotta re do the wood...winter project beautiful pics

Nice surplus wood... Wolverine must have found NOS wood somewhere. My VZ just feels right in wood furniture. Surprised we haven't seen many more pics as they sold a crap load of wood furniture.

Trust me, The wood will break easy :p I disregarded all the comments about it and learnt it on my own. I don't even think I shot it, I just came home one day and found the handguard cracked my safe. Danm safe gremlin. Their is a reason why the switched to beaver barf.

After mine cracked I decided to do something neat, a start to the battleworn VZ58 project. I weathered my wood till it was black, Sanded it for 4 hrs at work, then used BLO, and varnish so I could get a dark look. I feel like the beach wood lacks grain so spiced it up myself.

The surplus UHG/LHG has very thin wood, which has been sitting around for probably 60 years... it gets brittle. Once you sand it, it gets even thinner. Ironwood Designs has pretty well designed a foolproof UHG/LHG which is new and thicker, along with a longer and thicker PG. Sometimes it's worth it to pay $225 US for a superior product.

And yes, I've had UHG and LHG crack or break in half for the reasons I outlined above. Thin, old, brittle wood.
