A cz-858 is a civilian version of the czech vz-58 rifle manufactured by cz. The one marstar retails is a civie version of the vz-58 manufactured by a different company. Think armalite ar-15 vs colt ar-15, same platform, many similarities different manufacturers.

Marstar's vz-58 is not made by Cz or csa. They are made by Fsn.

I did not know that FSN was a separate manufacturer. I am assuming their VZ-58 models are completely 100% compatible with other VZ-58's?

Which company is making these again? FSN is not a true CZ or is it? School me.

It seems that FSN may be the new manufacturer model number, this is from wikipedia, so grain of salt is required, but under the vz58 variants section it looks like FSN are just newer made:

CZ 858 Tactical: A semi-automatic variant designed for the civilian market in Canada, assembled from unused parts from when production of the military versions ended. Available with standard (390 mm) barrel length on the restricted -4V version, or extended (482 mm) barrel length on the -2 version. The barrel is not chrome-lined in the -2 version unlike the military and -4V version. External components have a new varnish coat (identical to the coating used on original military rifles). A "Canadian" model is now also being offered based on the -2 version, featuring a real wood stock engraved with a maple leaf.
FSN Series: Newly manufactured civilian semi-automatic variants. Available in standard (FSN-01, 390 mm), with or without folding stock (FSN-01F and FSN-01W, which has a wooden stock and cheek piece), or shortened (279 mm) barrel lengths (also with folding stock), outer parts are blued. All variants with the exception of the -01W have bakelite stocks.
CSA vz. 58 Sporter: Available in .222 Remington, .223 Remington (5.56 NATO), or 7.62×39mm, these carbines were newly manufactured by Czech Small Arms, and not Česká zbrojovka. They came in Compact (190mm barrel, folding stock), Carbine (300 or 310mm barrel, folding stock), and Rifle (390 or 410mm barrel, fixed sporter stock) models. In addition there was a "Tactical" model chambered in .223 Remington, featuring a 410mm barrel, railed handguard, and collapsible buttstock. All featured synthetic handguards, although the 7.62x39mm Rifle model is available with either a synthetic or phenolic wood handguard.

Understood guys, thanks.

Now the next question would be if these manufacturers are akin to the AR platform Colt, Armalite, S&W, etc... Which Czech manufacturer is the best? With the AR, big difference between Bushmaster and Norinco.

How in hell did you arrive at this conclusion ??

"looks like FSN are just newer made:"
I have explained this time and time again, FSN is simply our model numbers that we came up with to help separate these from the mass confusion going on with the Vz-58, Vz-858, and what some folks call the Cz-58,CZ 858 etc, etc....
These were manufactured for us by a former state arsenal....

Lets NOT mix in the 858 family of guns, NOT made at the same factory, NOT fully interchangeable,

THE FSN SERIES; "All variants with the exception of the -01W have bakelite stocks" SAY what ??

CSA vz. 58 Sporter; More confusion for the consumer....

Ya Wiki is about as accurate as the kid editing it...

Uh, John, hate to break it to ya but it does say that on your website...and in this video...

Also, that entire section on Wikipedia has no references so it's impossible to tell how accurate it is.

^^

Failed to eject properly at 0:48. Not exactly the best advertising for that video.

Still going to buy that gun tho lol. Need a .58 for fun

NORTHERNNATE;

Yes there was a failure to eject, would you rather we hide the fact that that can happen ?? Not certain I understand your question ??

We are sold out of the FSN and don't plan on getting more....
