VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Ricks Brakes

I got an AR style break from Rick 15$ USD. good guy6 it bolted right on my CZ858 it looks cool but I cant tell you how it works because I find the CZ to be a pop gun and the recoil nothing to worry about. With minimal muzzle climb Due to fact I shoot mostly 308 win

So I hear what the brake is for...But why is it necassary for vz58? the vz is beautiful and no recoil really....am i wrong? it feels very comfy and perfect how it is.....thats why i love to shoot it, plus it is very ###y

Very handy to have in matches - you can double tap MUCH faster due to less muzzle flip :50cal:

I'm about to finish pimpin out my 858...a lot of mixed stuff and sawing off due to lack of funds...
What do you think??
Heres what has been done:
-I cut off the hand grip from the skelaton stock that came with my rifle (hated the look of it, but i can still use the stock)
-I put on the black handguards that also came with the rifle and installed 3 G36 rails to it, and a short front grip so it doesnt interfere with mag removal.

What kind of stock should i get? I'm looking at the folding wire stock which is cheap, or an AR adapter with the cheap AR stock from Marstar, which is a little more expensive...is it worth the extra $$ for the AR stock.

So there seems to be a lot of differing opinons on the whole muzzle brake issue.I've been considering my options in that department and wonder what the general consensus is from those of you who have used the various options.I know personally the AK atyle slant brake sucks,so I guess the real front runners are marstar's "milspec" and palinaks version.I like the looks of palinaks the best, but I would apprcieate.I'm going to tbe competing in tac rifle this year with my CZ and would like to have the best possbile performance from what I consider to be a fine firearm. Thanks all

Palinak's outperforms all so far :)

it's not so good as soon as you mount optics to your handguard or scout mount though... no cheek weld at all.

Who need optics it’s not a sniper rifle out to 100yards the sights are great. When hunting dear all my shots are within 100 yard where I live I feel a scope would just get in the way and add weight to this nice little light rifle. If I need to go out further I will use my 10fp within 500yards anything is marked for death the only thing I might do to mine is use a day glow tactical site like whats available for the SKS or maybe a ghost ring set up to improve visibility I have no confidence in the mounts for the optics and it is a pain in the ass to clean after banging away with the corrosive ammo and thats what this rifle is all about

I have an eotech on my scout mount and it VASTLY outperforms the iron sights. Worth every penny, no question.

As far as cleaning, there's a mod you can do to your handguard detailed in this thread that makes cleaning a breeze.

Infratek brake

better then the mil spec one sold by marstar?

Yep - I tested them both - the G.I marstar one is more authentic but flips a little bit higher
