VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

I think Deckard should get WOlverine bucks for every 858 this thread sells...I wonder when this thing will turn into a 10/22 type phenominon where there's a million accessories for it? Has anyone tried looking thru 382 pages for rails? or better yet used the search feature for "rail".

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a supplier of something like this? I got it off some CZech webpage and lost the link :(

Ive got a cz858 and the safety appears to have some kind of pin holding it in, I was looking at this comparison pic with the vz on the bottom posted earlier by 'suprathepeg'. the CZ appears to be built up, and the pin/? is on the block just above the grip block/screw. does anyone know how to get the safety out on a cz? does it feel spring loaded on a vz when it goes from safe to fire? or does it flop around? the cz feels tight so I'm worried theres a peened in ball bearing and spring in there Ill mangle if I push it out too hard.

Ahh...I just tried a 1.5mm allen key and it seems to fit snug, I used the heat from two paper matchstick's on the area around the screw, sprayed some Remoil on it and turned it forward to break it free, sprayed on a bit more oil and slowly backed it out. Thanks Dsiwy!!!

what is the name of the B&T mount? i can't seems to find one on the internet other than an AK one from a US site... I just want to check out its price tho, and by the looks of the ak one, i think it may be out of my range, but who knows.

Here's a pic of my simple 5$ stock removal tool, grind down a off-shore 1/2" extension till it just fits into the stock screw, give it a light tap and burp it lightly with a impact gun, or a breaker bar...just remember to grind past the retainer ball and use the square head as a reference to keep the flat relatively true.
