VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

    Votes: 407 19.0%
  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Do you guys know if there is such a thing as an extended bolt lock for the vz58? Would be nice to be able to release the bolt with the trigger finger.

Several people tried that.

The bad thing is that the mag is in the way
(namely the sheet metal that makes the well for the tab)
and it is quite difficult to make that thing
without mods to the mag and/or receiver.

But... don't lose your hope ;)

D-Technic sells into the US so I doubt we will see these here nor would they have the same appeal due to ammo costs. I wouldn't be surprised however if these new rifles used AR magazines.

D-Technik is another slap together company that deals in anything that it can make money on.(good on them) One of the (directors, shareholders) is also a key person in CZ Hermex where they slap together the CZH2003s (aka Vz58s) Different packaging for a different market.
D-Technik only got a licence to deal with firearms and related stuff January 29 2009. Before that they installed heating, electrical wiring, textiles, explosives etc...... Another key member of D-Technik is also one of the directors at CZ Jablunka which is currently in bankruptcy and being sold of (explains the tooling for new receivers)...similar to what happened at CZ Brno. (Czech corruption and money tunneling in its finest)

Anyways because of this intertwinement I can only presume that all it will take is a different ribbon on the box and a different name to bring the same product here.

i'm not sure about the rest of you, but i'll just be happier than a pig in stuff as soon as i can mount a scope and brass collector on my cz858;)

Sheeze, I prepare to move out of country and all the awesome accessories for this comes out :(

That said I'll still get the new sights and extended bolt lock...:bigHug:

Quick question guys, I am quite happy with the factory arrangement on my rifle but am considering changing the buttstock to the CZ side folding unit sold by Wolverine. I was wondering if someone (who obviously has one installed) could measure the length of pull using the description below:

"The length of pull or LOP is measured from the forward face of the trigger to the end of the butt plate or butt pad. It should be measured to the point halfway between the heel (top) and the toe (bottom) of the butt plate."

The LOP is quite important for me and I would like to know if I have to get the folder adjusted prior to purchase.

Thanks for your help.
