VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

I dont know if this is the right place to ask this...

Anyways!

Is the NEA Hybrid Brake any good? The marstar military break is sold out and i cant seem to find one.

If not the Hybrid break what can anyone recommend and why?

Im looking for significant reduction of recoil at a good price.

If anyone has a link to the Marstar military break where i can buy an available one pls. put it on id highly appreciate it!

Thanks in advanced!

Oh, can someone comment on the combination of a FAB shock absorbing stock combined with a muzzle break(hybrid break if possible lol)?

I don't have direct experience with the NEA, but hear good things about them. The Marstar unit makes a big difference, but mostly on muzzle rise (which leads to cheek smack that people perceive as recoil). The NEA, logically, pulls the rifle forward as well, lessening recoil. The FAB unit should help in combination with the NEA, but I guess that he break would do most of the work. Just an opinion.

There is a video somewhere demonstrating how brakes lessen climb.

I wish PWS would make their J-TAC available in a blank or threaded 14x1RH. I did it myself by welding one up, and redrilling/tapping a 14x1LH J-TAC for an AK....and think it works better than the Marstar. At $55...it's not too expensive and it's pretty effective IME.

Just got out to the range last night with my new CZ8582V. I'm in love. I was initially disappointed with the trigger pull, but after some firing and lots of dry firing it seems to have improved, or I've got used to it. Less squishy, more positive.

Having stripped it down, I can't say that I'm impressed with the trigger group from an assembly/disassembly perspective, but other than that I am revoltingly pleased with this rifle. Can't wait to get it out again.

I'm curious as to why don't more of the VZ58 pics have that "VZ-58 Modern Military Muzzle Brake" that Marstar sells? Which military is using this muzzle break?

Only the pic with the armed zombie and the guys in the winter camo have it (I think it's the same, it's hard to tell), and they're from the same website I think so...

from Marstar's website:

i have this break and found that it did not do much of anything but make my all ready long cz 858 even longer i gave it to my friend to try on his, i hope he gets better use out of it then i did.

Hi all

I just got the CZ858 and put 80 rounds through it. I had 4 problems described as the 'CZ grelmin" with what looks like a weak striker hit and trigger reset...

Should I see about returning it or is this a problem with the entire line of rifles? I don't have the skills to do the welding or other gunsmith-type fixes.

The easiest is the tab bolt carrier, I got mine when I visited the US. I think Rauch Tactical was fabricating them, message 'suprathepeg'

Thanks Deckard, I've read through that. There are many theories recorded there with conflicting solutions. I was hoping maybe the issue had been narrowed down more since the FAQ was written.

Canadian customers please note: We know that there is a mail carrier strike currently happening in Canada. We may have to pursue a different shipping method for Canadian orders, otherwise, we cannot use US post, which is the least expensive method. Shipping rates listed below are for Domestic US orders only. Any updates regarding this strike would be appreciated.

Wolverine has refinished OEM wood furniture for the same price so the only real benefit to the IWD beech is that you can apply whatever finish suits you.

Hey guys! Im new here and I hate to be "that guy" that just comes on and asks for advice but im stuck here. I have a CZ858 and I am doing some upgrading, well i was until i got stuck. I have a FAB defence stock that i am trying to install, so far i was able to install the "tube" part onto the gun but I am having huge problems getting the actual stock part to fasten to the tube, I have tried everything!! What am I missing!!?? Also what is the best way to remove the tabs for the heat shield on the front hand guard?

Thanks for any help you guys can offer in advance!

Edit: Bahaha I am such and idiot. Just as i clicked post i figured it out. Sorry for the useless half a post. Still stuck on the tabs though!
