VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Was this made from the standard fixed stock?

No. I made it from wood and painted it to match. It fits over the folder. One good thing about it is that I made it just thick enough that the stock does not lock in closed position, so it is fast to lock in open position.

I like the stock, particularly the forestock. There is no need for that kind of buttstock since the "crime" bill expired.

I like the clear mags a lot. I would photocopy some stacked rounds and paste the paper inside it so it "looks" 20ish even though it isn't.

The thumbhole stock makes the gun compliant with states that had adopted their own assault weapons ban, California & Massachusetts for instance. Those bans stayed in effect after the ban went into sunset.

Apparently a standard Vz58 mag can be used if the mag well on this version is milled open to accept it or the clear mag can be used in a standard Vz58 if a shim is added to it.

Your paintwork is outstanding as it looks exactly like the composition stock.

It is a very cool design.

One more question, it looks like it is open along the bottom to fit over the folder strut? Is that correct?

Yes. It is slotted with a table saw. Cut to shape by bandsaw, and shaped with sanding drum and hand sanded. It is held on with two small cotter pins, and so can come off easily. Thanks for the compliment!

i have both the middle one and the lower. the lower one is a far better brake than the middle. i haven't tried the top one.

if you need to afix your bayo, you best start running :)

Thanks POWERWAGON, sentiments appreciated.

My question really doesn't make sense when I dissect it. If I want one to be set up issue proper, it would have the muzzle nut anyway.

I wonder if the good Doctor could post a photo of the gun with the stock folded open, please?

I really like the look of the stock closed, and would like to see the open version.

Thanks!
