Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

The RPK is said to have a maximum range of 2,500 meters, and effective range of about 800 meters. The 858's barrel is about 19 inches and the RPK is about 23 inches, or 82%. Could it be that the 858's maximum range is 2050 m and effective range is 656 m? I have always thought the 800 m stat was optimistic, so my guess is that the 858 is 40% less than the RPK official numbers. That means 480 m. But at that range, the target to front sight ratio means you had better be bench resting. Anyone care to try it out and tell us? Please include photos.

I think they are the same ones .....I assume they worked out all the problems because when the Czech army was testing the first batches the bottom rails that had front grips attached were snapping off. So I was told by my supplier who also supplies the army. Same AR stock adapters
