VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Is there a mod or has anyone modded the mag release so that it can be released from the right side?

I would like to be able to release the mag with my right index finger and remove the mag by knocking it out with the back of my left hand. This would shave a fair bit of time off when doing matches.

Ive been wanting that since I bought my first VZ, If there was one made that protruded about 1/2 inch or so below the trigger guard would be great specially if you are wearing gloves or mitts

Something similiar to an AK mag release :)

You can use your irons with the handguard on, you can also use the lower with a standard upper, if you just want a forward grip.
The new upper will retain zero after taking it of and putting it on.

You have no idea how awesome that is.

Will definitely pick one up. ETA?

What about the PG5 and galil folding stock?

I am swapping over the stock on my CZ 858 from wood to folder. The slot head screw/bolt supplied with the folder needs cleaning up. Do you know what thread size it is?

While I am not sure of the thread size, I would think cleaning it in solvent and a brush would solve any grease problems.

Hey all,
can any one of you please explain to me how to install the fiberglass stock set that came with the rifle from wolverine supplies? I have both the upper and lower handguards on, but am having a ##### of a time with the actual stock assembly. As I see it, the double sided screw has threads in opposite directions, so I first screwed it into the cylindrical plug that fits into the sling hole on the stock, and then tried to draw the whole assembly forward from inside the receiver. I think I have now stripped the fwd face of that bolt, so I now have a super wobbly stock about 3/16" shy of where it should be. Am I doing this all wrong? Please, please help. (if I do need a new screw, whre can they be found?)

Are the alignment bosses inserted into there slots? Post pics or pm if you need more help.

On a side note. Got to the range today:dancingbanana: Things are looking good. The deflection angle works great! 200 rounds and every casing cleared well. The quick attach worked great. I need to do it more times but I haven't seen any difference in zero point with 4 removals in between shooting. I have ran into another problem with the new goose neck design. Weight. It is pretty
heavy and I have already removed alot of excess material. I think aluminum is the only answer at this point? And as for the stripper clips I dont see that happening in a steel version without making it a tank.
