Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

Yeah, I did it with a high heat resistant/anti rust paint from Home Depot... took everything apart and taped up everything i didnt want coated. Its tough and it'll handle the barrell heating up.

Thanks, no I havent heard of Amor Coat...what i used was RustOleum Specialty High Heat... its made for bbq's, outdoor lamps, etc... Anything that gets really hot. Here it is: http: //www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=112

thanks , i think i will use what you used cos my son says the armor coat wont stand up to heat .
 
Just a note of interest about the stock iron sights for the VZ58L. I went to the Summerland long range shoot and took my SL8 and VZ. When I got my VZ out I set the elevated rear sight for 500, 600,700 and 800. The bullets droped within 2' first time every time. I was very impressed. Even shooting offhand or kneeling.....great rifle, who needs optics.

I've got a 58L with 500 rounds through it and a scout mount that I'm thinking of parting with.

I'll entertain interesting trades/partial trades (no norc m14's or cz858s or SKS please), or even cash offers via PM...

A friend of mine just bought a 58L with scout mount..He asked me what kind of scope he could use on it,bearing in mind he only wants to spend a couple of hundred bucks,what would you recommend?

If your friend's name is Mike then that's my old 58L...

I used a bushnell holosight with terrific results... a little more than a couple hundred bucks though.
