VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

    Votes: 1,507 70.4%
  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

    Votes: 407 19.0%
  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

    Votes: 166 7.7%
  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

This thread is f**king mess. Deckard pull out the good stuff and start a new thread with it. Its so f**king hard to find anything in it without paging for days. That or we need a better search engine.

50% of the last 500 posts are a waste (including this one).

This thread is one that I always come back to, even now after I sold my 58. It should stay how it is, IMHO. The cultural thing is an intergral part of it and it adds to the charm. Many thanks to Deckard, Palinak, Lector and the rest of the team.

It seriously baffles me as to why we can't have a sub-forum for this firearm. Obviously there is enough support for one, this one sticky alone could be spread over about 10 stickies and then the rest of it would make up 500 posts after that.

I've gone through this sticky from the first page three times over now.

They refused to sticky it for years. I had to BTT. So it took me two days of reading ALL the threads ever written to make the FAQs. I know sometimes it gets dumb, but it also keeps the culture alive. I, for one, have not heard at the range (for a long, long time):

"Oh man, you can't bring an AK to the range. They don't give out SAPs anymore!"

Then we get cool guys making custom rails, muzzle devices, furniture or just plain pimpn.

I firmly believe that the longevity of any black rifle in the face of aggressive Liberal tactics is numbers, and that is why there are lots of pictures. Its a culture. I want people to keep thinking about it. I want them to have their friends buy one, or two.

It is my little way of biting my thumb at the sleeze bag, hateful Libs.

OK?

Joking about those pictures is pretty poor taste IMO regardless who your trying to poke fun of on the forum.
Thats the real deal over there, and I'm sure if you were there taking those pictures you'd probably #### your pants one, and trice.
No one is free, and everyone lives in fear, not cool to use the images as a joke..

allright ,straight up question!I've been shooting my CZ 585 for about a year now and I've had acceptably good results in the accuracy department.I'd like to hear what the best performance some of you more experienced fellas have managed to get out of yours.
Thanks

As I'm sitting here, thinking about how much I like my rifle,I felt the need to sing the praises of the guys at Wolverine supply.I called them ,told them I had a problem with my CZ,told them I hadn't bought it from them and They just mailed me out the parts I needed, free of charge!Didn't even charge me for shipping!Anyway,I know I posted this elsewhere awhile back, but I just had to point out again what outstanding service I received from Wolverine.

I'm not more experienced, but my best "performance"
with a VZ is around .8" 5-shot group at 100,
with the gun scoped and benched.
Average groups with the same gun in the same conditions
were about 1.8".
I know some people here claimed better results.

If you shoot a semi-auto scoped and from bench,
some people recommend to remove the mag after chambering
as this will likely increase accuracy.

Military Russian hollow point (1980's production).
But Czech is capable of that too.
It's dirty and corrosive, but it has some outstanding consistency.

But please read my post again,
.8" was my "best", the average group was about 1" bigger than that.
That was with a restricted 58.

the problem was light primer strikes.I would be shootin away, then click!I would eject the live cartridge and see a light primer strike.Apparently this is the infamous"gremlin".So I got a new bolt carrier and trigger assembly and shazam!problem solved.
