VZ-58s and more...FAQs are Post 1

Q: Considering this monster thread, what do you think of the VZ-58 type rifle?

  • It is a beauty as it comes, and a must have, since it drives Libs bonkers.

    Votes: 1,507 70.4%
  • It is best pimped out and dressed up, a far cry from an NDP convention.

    Votes: 407 19.0%
  • It is true it was the first cool gun in the Cdn. market for a long while, but I'll pass.

    Votes: 166 7.7%
  • It makes me think of snide remarks, as I am a gun snob and the 58 is affordable.

Hehehe...... Good one But Gene Hackman had a M16 (in Domino's principle....}
I wonder what’s the sniper gun in the right side of the pic from inside the chopper.

Start the AR-47 Upper Modification thread and you have it.

Neah, I’m not such a thread starter, you know…
I guess I need a high post count like other members have (4000 or so:p ) to receive any answers.
On the only thread I started on CGN (in Legalese!!!!!) I received 3 answers in 10 days or so.
But that’s ok, I’ll be fine. I ordered 4 special upper forgings and I'm sure I'll find drawings as well.

Few pages back somebody asked about changing barrels.
I didn’t find one yet with thread at the rear end and I don’t know for sure if they exist.
I wonder if they put them on the guns with the receivers made in Ohio.
I can find only this:

58_m_barrel.jpg

It’s brand new original Czech military, chrome lined, proof-marked and with the muzzle treaded. It’s 390 mm or so long.
It’s ready to be installed on the gun,
which, in my understanding, it’s not quite so easy like on the ak’s
That's because of the head space and the fact that the bolt locks into the receiver.
After installation the gas tapping hole is to be drilled.
I keep this barrel for a future project (when I’ll get to it).

But I don’t know why you guys want to change your barrels.
Unless you did something terribly wrong with it, you are not supposed to have any problems with the barrels.

Yeah, and I almost forgot, at 4000 posts you get one of these;)

Now where did you get that? :)

Ya, its probably not eash to get that barrel seated properly; would probably be cheaper to buy a new rifle rather than replace the barrel! But ya, how many tens of thousands of rounds would it take to shoot-out even the non-chromed 858 barrel?! Its not going to be a problem.

Why do people think the barrel is hard to change? Remove the barrel pin, press the barrel out, press the new one in until a go gage says don't press no mo'...re-drill and press the pin in and done!

100% how you said it.
it's easy in theory, I know.

VZ Scout mount: Part Duex

Just got back fron the gravel pit, very pleased with the mount, and the knock off aimpoint for that matter. Mounting was a pain in the ass, having to tighten down the clamping screws while trying to keep the mount alinged, haveing a laser boresighter for that step as sudjested in the manual would have tokk all the headache away. Have to really torque the clamping screws down tight so they go through the paint and bite into the metal good, but after all that it was bliss popping bottles at 50 yards, and very pleasant with the red dot. Just need to get another case of ammo now!

Through a friend of a friend… That’s why it’s worth to talk nice to people;):)
As a reputed pack-rat, I also have somewhere a new 295 mm one, for another project I dream of, inspired by krinkov:eek::dancingbanana: I don’t know if I’ll ever get to it since I have other screaming priorities right now:runaway:

I choose this as my "and More" My Vz 52/57, I even have spare mags and mag pouches
I used to have one like that 10 or even more years ago. At that time that ammo was scarce and when I got down to 3000 rnds. or so I sold the rifle together with the ammo left. Good rifle.
vz52 was an interesting project. Unfortunately, in the West, it is not known enough about the origins. Apparently it is based on some ideas going back to 1930’s. That unusual case length added to its uniqueness. Sweet pics. Thx.:)
About the “and More” - it is up to the warden. I’m only Joe Nobody (just another brutalized and censored visitor of this thread);) :D

palinak, what about some pics with 58’s??? We want pics.
