What is this?
Also what about overall quality?
The gremlin is a quirk some of the guns have where they don't always fire. It's explained in one of the sticked threads at the top of the forum.
Overall quality in my opinion is very good. I bought one about six months ago and have been very impressed. It is quickly becoming my go-to rifle, which I did not expect. I entirely intended for it to be a toy, but I am really starting to respect the thing.
My only complaints are as follows:
1) the factory grip would fit a Chinese ten year old's hand
2) optics mounting has been tricky but I think North Eastern Arms is going to turn out to be THE solution
3) the factory buttstock is too low for a decent cheekweld...at least for my nordic cheekbones, anyway. But the stock is sufficiently ugly that you won't feel guilty about replacing it.
4) the angle at the rear of the receiver means that stocks that bolt straight up to the receiver stick off at an angle making the right adapter essential IMO...but the right adapter is almost certainly the Rauch Tactical which should be available any day now.
I did not buy one of these until I saw the original RT adapter. For me this is a necessary upgrade. Some people are fine with the factory stock, so this may be a personal thing.
But IMO the CZ858/VZ58 requires a few things to seriously kick ass:
1) a FAB pistol grip
2) a Rauch Tactical adapter and AR stock
3) a red dot sight...I have one on an FAB handguard and it is fine but I would like to give the NEA unit a go, I think it will be the final word in optics mounts for these.
If you intend to use the irons only the factory stock might be all right...I run optics and it is too low.
