VZ 858 mags

This may have been discussed before: If so I apologize.

1) Does the VZ 858 take AK 47 mags?
2) Does anyone know if pinned 10-round mags are available in Canada for the VZ 858? I think it is slightly ridiculous running around with a monster mag which is pined down to 5 rounds. At least with the Mini-14 one can get dedicated 5 round mags.

I know the 10-rounders are available in the Czech Republic. Has anybody imported them?

BTW I do not think a small 5-round mag like for the Mini-14 would work well in the VZ 858 given the difference in magazine release between the two weapons- a little bit must stick out to allow grasping the body of the mag...

1. No. The mags are unique to the VZ/CZ.

2. There are some shorty mags around. The EE is probably your best bet to find them.

I know this has been asked before and the answer was impossible, but this time I'm asking. The guy who put an AK47 trigger group into an SKS.

How hard would it be to modify an AK mag? Is the VZ so different that you can't fit an AK mag in there? I've handle the two but never side by side.

Are the width and length of the mag chamber the same between the two rifles?

I assume the AK mags aren't as long as they don't have the bolt hold open.

So a little welding and they could work. As long as the widths are close.

If I get a CZ858 I might try to convert some AK mags. I've got a but load and only my hacked up SKS to use them in.

look at wolverine supplies or wanstallsonline.... one of those two site have the 5 round short mags ( for the cz 858 )
