Okay guys so I'm considering buying the VZ 858 (Soon as my PAL comes in...)
And I just want some input on this rifle. Tell me everything, the pros, the cons, how does it stand up to SKS in accuracy, and everything. Also, how dificult are mags to come by. Any known problems. Any pluses (besides that it's non res)

Not to be a douche, but every question you've asked has been asked and answered MULTIPLE times in this very forum. Click on 'search this forum' and enter 858, and you will get your answers.
 
depending on where you buy it from, it could come with atleast 4- 30/5 round mags, i bought mine at wolverine and it did.

i really like mine, it feels good, is not very heavy, has minimal recoil but i found the factory stock bruised my cheek so i changed it out.

now i'm just waiting for suprathepeg to finish his rail so i can try out my lapua reloads for accuracy with some magnification.
 
Oh, and there's no such thing as a VZ-858. Please never call it that again.

"SA. VZ-58" means "Samopal vzor 58" which translates to "assault rifle model of 1958"
VZ-58 refers to the general design.

Sporting VZ-58 variants imported to Canada are produced by Ceska Zbrojovka (CZ) and Hermex (CZH).

If you buy from wolverine you are buying a CZ. CZ's VZ-58 sporting variant is called the CZ-858. The Mk. 2 is non-restricted. The Mk. 4 is restricted.

If you buy from Marstar (all importation issues aside) you're buying a CZH. Hermex calls their sporting variant VZ-58 the "CZH-2003 sport". Marstar markets these as the restricted "VZ-58s" and non-restricted "VZ-58l".

So my question is: What are you actually planning on buying? Without knowing the exact model it is impossible to give you more than general answers.

Like: Comes with 4 mags, rapes the SKS, sometimes has easily fixable trigger reset issues.
 
Newb here as well and I appreciate any info as this will be my first firearm =)

So, is there any difference then in quality/reliability between the two Manufacturers? I'm interested in the restricted shorter barrel versions - so which do I buy, CZ 858 from Wolverine or CZH VZ-58 from Marstar?
 
just click on threads then go to red rifles and theres is about 1000 threads on this rifle and will explain anything you want..its simple really.....good luck on your quest to the red rifles lol
 
If you're near a big gun store, surplus is available. Search the sticky at the top of the forum, and google. The reviews are quite accurate.

If you want more specific info, I'll answer PMs. Only thing I don't think I've read much is that most cz's are the same quality.
 
Hehe okay thanks guys! Holy smokes that's a longest thread I've ever read! I'm ready to take the plunge into the red rifle world, haha! Just waiting for my PAL to come in the mail, woohoo!
