I just picked up a birdcage flash hider for my CZ 858 and wondered if anyone else has tried one?? I wanted the smallest brake, flash hider I could find and this seemed to be one of the smaller ones. The barrel is long enough on the CZ without going and adding another 2+ inches on it IMO.

This is still a touch bigger in diameter then I would of liked but I will have to range test it first before I complain about it lol.. Should I expect any difference over stock and is there anyway to colour match the flash hider?

Here the link to the one I picked up.

Back in 1970 these were standard issue on the M16A1. It is a flash suppressor. Can't remember if it was much of a brake.

So whats the point of it then?

The theory was, it would reduce, but not eliminate, the muzzle flash in combat. The suppressor would channel the muzzle flash out to the side of the muzzle 360 degrees instead of one big ball of fire in front of the muzzle, thus trying to conceal you’re location. It probably has some breaking effect.

No one has tried this thing? And you call yourselves gun nuts :p . Well I will be trying it this weekend and will report back here with scientific shoulder dynamitic impact results. I will also ask the guy beside me to take off his hearing protection and see what seems louder with or without the cage on. lol

In all seriousness If it works ok I will see if I can get it anodized the colour I want with another bigger muzzle brake I have yet to buy.

Here's a anodizing colour chart

Next week we will start selling The best VZ 58 brake ever produced only 200 made in the late 80s for Czech paratroopers. Brake was too expensive for general issue. I would not call it a brake it is a brake system

I do have the photos and sample some of you already saw it but my partner forbade me from showing the photos or the samples before the main shipment arrives

Let us know if it keeps the muzzle down a bit. I'm in the same boat looking for something keeping it as short as possible that would help for follow up shots
