Has anyone found a paint the same colour ect as what is on the CZ/858.I have a few dings on mine.Thanks.Dave.

I stripped mine with paint stripper, and did a real nice job of painting it in engine paint low gloss. Looks fabulous, baked it for an hour at 375 degree's and now its pretty tough.

Point being, I'd rather just paint it all something else than touch it up with that terrible looking grey garbage :d

I always thought that if the Czechs chose that bluish grey it was probably for a good reason:it's a low contrast hue that blends very well with the haze often found in these countries. You can find a similar if somewhat lighter blue-gray with the WW1 overcoats of the French "poilus"; it minimized the silhouette effect against the horizon line or in fog or smoke.

Makes sense.. huh, never would have thought of that. I guess the grey isn't so bad if you look at it from an 'effective' perspective.

Speaking of "effective", at the outbreak of WW1, before the adoption of that blue dolman, the 1914-1918 French troopers were issued FLAMBOYANT RED parade pants because some major a**holes at the political level had complained that switching for a less conspicuous color would put the industrial garance growers (the plant from which the red color was derived) and the associated textile industry in jeopardy...:eek::runaway:
The first weeks of fighting revealed the "flaw" in their theory: perfect easy to see targets...
The "poilus" adapted very fast by covering their pants in mud or any suitable dirt available.
