I have acquired a few spare parts and have a question(s) about the meaning of the number on the side of the bolt lock. I have 3 bolts 1 being new made(Came with CSA and is the third replacement since new and is noticebly poorer made than the 2 mil spec ones it also feels rougher when sliding in the reciever than the other 2) and 3 bolt locks with numbering 3,4,and 6. The bolts seem to fit fine but should I be concerned about mix matching bolt locks and bolts in a CSA VZ 58 reciever due to head space? I have tried them all with out firing and all look like they lock fine. Is each bolt and lock is fitted to every reciever or carrier? Does this mean I need a gunsmith to swap out bolts? Lastly. If I match the carrier to the original bolt lock would this be ok with different bolts.

Any info is appreciated,

Thanks

Its for headspacing and the Ref number is the size of the locking piece. Warning do not switch them unless you have headspace gauges and know what your doing.

Headspace should be checked with a pair of go/no-go gauges. a qualified gunsmith should have a set for your calibre; otherwise; purchase a set from Brownell's. It's the only way to make sure the gun is safe to fire.

I guess I would like to learn how to do it. As visits to the gunsmith I am sure will add up. These guns seem to go through parts like no other I have owned. Like maintaining a 73 volkswagon.

Thanks for the info,

Andrew
