VZ handguard

I used needle nose pliers to bend them, and went slowly, and carefully. It's almost a one shot deal, so be very careful. If you mess it up, you're scr*wed, so go slow.

i got a dozen top HG and i would say about a quarter of them the tabs have snapped off , not a biggie , the top part will twist a bit but generally stay in place .

I cursed allot, then lightly sanded the sharp corners round, cursed allot some more then it kind of rolled right in. I do think I may have bent the steel liner though cause it points off to 11:45 instead of 12:00...I may put it into a vice and twist it back...definitely too much effort for a $100 grip-but mine is tight as heck and would hold a red-dot sight ok.

I installed and tested the FAB handguard on a friend's rifle and was initially impressed with the tight fit and overall feel of it I'm starting to see some flaws. I don't know how other people's experiances with it have been but I found it fit so tight that it was difficult to replace the UHG and even more difficult to get it off. I'll be interested to see how well it returns to zero after a cleaning. For me the jury is still out.

Good coincidence on the thread... I just finished (as in 5 minutes ago) installing the FAB hand guard.

First, I have the spring detent type, so getting the old one off was a piece of cake.

However, the FAB top portion was actually too long for my cover... I had to sand both ends (the portion that is hidden) removing about .5mm one each end in order to squeeze it on and twist it around.

I used 000 Synthetic wool to hide the sanding marks and unless you are eyeballing it super close you can't tell.

The look and feel is incredible, very tight.
***However*** I'd not trust an optic on it at all.
Actually, I'd have preferred it if the top didn't have the picatinny rail as I did this mod to lose the crappy factory furniture and improved the feel :)

I'm happy with the end results (it's tres bad-ass).

It's the only affordable game in town, so you take it as-is, or you leave it. Sure you can pay an outrageous amount of money for the 3rd option, but 99% aren't going to do that precisely because it's simply too expensive. The bottom line is: It's as good as it gets for 65 dollars. It would be cool if someone would bring something to market that was slimmer, and more rugged, that came in under the 100 dollar range, but I'm not holding my breath. The Vz is a niche market weapon (only than a few thousand in private hands). There are just not enough of them to entice anything that is better, and yet still cheaper than "F*ck That!" in price. I think it gets the job done. I'm ultimately satisfied, but mostly because if I'm not, then there is nowhere to go anyway, and I'm not about to spend 400 bucks for a fore-stock, that's just ridiculous in my estimation. I might go 200, but only if I was drunk when I bought it.

Well the bad news for Canadians and those who would buy from us is that the days of $65 FAB fore-stocks are pretty much done as Wolverine just made an exclusive deal with FAB and they are now the only Canadian retailer that can buy direct. Kinda sucks cause these were about to sell like hotcakes.

You can buy them direct from Isreal (a.k.a. Zahal) for 65 bucks all day long my friend. A computer; A credit card; Zahal; There is hope! Anyone charging more than 75 (and even that would only be worth it if you could take it home today instead of waiting a week) is scammin' ya. :)

----http://www.zahal.org/FAB/sa58.html---- (There, now it's not a "HOTLINK" Curtton)

I bought one for my 2nd VZ last Wednesday, and received it this Tuesday; easy-breezy.

(Also, The Mako Group in NYC sells them)

Errata: The only real dearth with the VZ accessories anymore is on the butt-stock side, but I have a feeling even those well become at least more affordable (I.e. see under 150 bucks) soon.

is this the new policy of FAB?

Corpus : you cant hot link to non-sponsor dealer . i would edit a space between the Ws.

Is the Railed Polymer Hand Guard that vz58,net is selling the same as the FAB Defense ones and are they suitable for mounting an optic on?
