VZ Short Gas System

I've noticed some of the VZ 58 PDW-type weapons have short gas systems. Is this peculiar to the pistol style or can it be acquired for a full size rifle? My thoughts were perhaps it could make the rifle more accurate by having all the movement in a shorter area of the rifle instead of spreading the vibration out.

It might not work since it might unlock the breach while there is still high pressure in the barrel wich could be dangerous.
