Hi All

Just looking into the value of a nice condition VZ52.
Thinking of selling but trying to find out what they go for these days.
Only one ad in the EE at the moment. hard to be sure of the value with only 1 example

It is an SHE made 1956 as can be seen in the second pic

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The problem with this model is it's an ammunition orphan. The Czechs didn't make many and they made only enough ammunition. Good luck finding very much ammo.

(Sure sure, there are recipes for converting other cartridges to 45mm cases, but hardly anyone is THAT devoted to handcraft a hundred rounds just to get a zero.)

That's usually the killer when it comes to this stuff. Just like the fine Swiss Vetterli rifle I almost bought this past weekend: Where am I going to find 10.4×38mm Swiss Rimfire and how would I reload it?

Shame though, that Vz.52 is nice.

They are well designed, well made rifles. I purchased a 52/57 in order to take advantage of inexpensive 7.62x39 ammunition. If 7.62x45 had been more readily available I would have jumped on a CZ 52 which by all reports is more accurate (and more effective) than the x39 cartridge. I would have thought that 750-800 was a fair price for a '52 in decent shape.

What would a fair price be for a 52/57 in VG-Excellent condition with 2 magazines? After 30 years of collecting Milsurps I'm thinking of selling some off and buying some EBRs. I have a CZ with exactly one box (20 rounds) fired from it in the early 90's. Hard decision, keep one of my first loves or join the cool kids with their hot chicks haha. My apologies for the mini hi-jack.

Nice rifle, but not being able to find ammo to shoot it, makes it more or less a wall hanger for most. I'm assuming the 52/57 using readily accessible ammo would be worth a lot more.

Buying a rifle and not being able to find ammo for it would be a huge buzzkill for me. I like shooting my guns.

I paid $725 for a similar rifle several years ago with one mag. Looked unfired but I am sure it had at least one (or two?) full magazines through it when it was proofed at the factory.

By exactly 20 rounds fired I meant by me, I have no idea how many the factory fired. Its going to be a tough decision, my boys are not interested in it but are in love with the ARs. I'm getting older and starting to think why not sell off some of my favourite toys and buy them what they like. Best part is when I bought the 52/57 I thought it was a truly ugly beast, I was to young to realize what it was and only years later said to myself "Why didn't I buy 10!"

As mentioned a VZ-52 should be in the 500-750$ range in my opinion. The reality is the caliber is really a hard one to duplicate requiring some substantial work (i.e. not just taking the different brass putting it through the different die and trimming).

The VZ-52/57 should be in the 600-1000$ range in my opinion, as the caliber really does help with the sale.

If you're really serious about shooting the rifle, there are adapters available to convert it to 7.62 x 39.

Shameless plug, Its a 1959 in excellent condition up on EE now for $1250 shipped with an extra mag. Have to get off my lazy but and take pictures that do it justice. Most for sale are the commoners 1958 haha.
