Thinking of buying a VZ58 in .223. Going to get a ar mag adapter, would Tula ammo work, feed and eject? Also would beowulf mags work? Any info would be great!!

Thanks

Please Lord not another thread about baewolf mags :/

I am no expert but I have heard from several educated sources that the vz58 was not originally designed for the 5.56 cartridge and functions best on 7.62x39. Plus surplus ammo is much cheaper than any 5.56 ammo I have ever been able to find.

I have the .223 with the AR adapter. I use LAR mags exclusively. They seem to work the best and the most consistent. I've tried other mags with varying success. IMO stick with LAR mags, you can buy 3 for the price of one Beowulf.

I have 1000's of rounds threw the .223 with out any failures. I would almost call myself an expert;)

I'm surprised at how many of you didn't know that the Beowulf mags are prohibited now. The RCMP deemed them duel purpose magazines and now must be pinned to 5 rounds of .223.

The Beowulf magazines are NOT REPEAT NOT PROHIBITED. The thing they released was one letter to one importer about 1 type of magazine. Since that shipment was stopped, there have been several other brands imported and sold with no issues. ALSO At the same time this happened, my friend was charged with possession of a prohibited device for his beowulf magazines, but those charges were DROPPED and his magazines were RETURNED about 2 weeks ago. If these magazines were prohibited, why did they return them to my friend?

There is also no such thing as dual-purpose, the mag is either prohibited or it's not. 3-gunners have been putting 9mm in a 40 cal pistols magazine for a long time now, should all 40 cal pistols also be pinned to hold only 10 of 9mm as well?

Precisely. Nothing has changed. Just the usual RCMP muscle flexing, combined with the usual CGN rumor and misinterpretation of fact.

There has been nothing official about the Beowulf mags, therefore they are legal. I remember a couple years ago there was an email from an RCMP lab tech saying the GSG drums for the 10/22 were prohibited. Nothing happened after that, Cabelas and many other retailers still sell them.
