The new CSA vz58 762x39 used to retail for 1049.99 in 2015 and now retailers are asking $1499, what gives with such a huge increase in the price? even 858 are going for close to $1200 new. I know our dollar was poor but isn't trading done in CAD to CZK? which has not dropped too much.

These rifles are starting to become not worth it ..

Well just looking at the price of anything in the same category, Nothing compares. Maybee the Type 81 but thats a G note. and hopefully it's not a piece of trash and a disappointment like the T97

I like my Cz858 and it was worth every penny. Its 100 time better than an bubba'd SKS.

The gun business, regardless of seller and buyer is generally conducted in US dollars. The Canadian dollar is now worth 75 cents US. A $1000 gun before the drop is now a $1250 gun. This before the rise in the US economy affected the wholesale price of the CSA guns. The US gun industry had a number of record years in a row, causing gun prices to rise roughly 7-10% per year. When demand outstrips supply, as it has been with Obama as "gun seller-in-chief" prices rise. This also affects the Cz guns since American importers are willing to spend more to buy from manufacturers than they were, due to the higher selling prices on the retail end.

Still remember when these were 900 bucks when they first came out... Then to around 1000 for a couple years, then the huge spike all the way close to 1500 now.

On the other hand... The Tavor has been around the same price all this time and even cheaper a year or so ago.

Strange gun market we have in Canada .

So in theory if a low round count CZ858 NR went up for sale for $1000.00 it should sell quickly?

Most of the CSA production is going to the USA and sold by Czechpoint there. They sell like hotcakes there, and they sell for $1100 USD there. I'm surprized we are getting any CSA rifles here right now, at $1500 CAD or not, it is difficult to compete with the huge demand in the US market.

I just heard it from my old friend that works from waffen schumacher in Germany that CSA boss was really complaining to his boss about slow sales of his guns in Canada. Apparently CSA charges around 450 euro per gun but guns are over inflated in distribution chain in Canada. From what he heard CSA was really dissatisfied with their arrangement in Canada

Its the non-restricted tactical tax.

If you find these in the Czech republic they where going for 350$ for the basic model by CZ. Now all these fancy brands and non-restricted status and the price has gone insane.
