vz58 CSA Price Increase

What else is new? Anyone who sells anything in Canada, tries to get rich off every single transaction.

Let's see - Provincial income tax, Federal income tax, EI, Medical, Payroll tax, business property tax, GST/PST on facilities maintenance and improvements, fuel surcharges, import permits, brokerage surcharges, license fees....
Yup, someone's getting rich. Guess who? This is where our tax burden shows up first - non-essential big ticket items.

Yup. And a xcrl and tavor aren't twice as good. To me at least. I've owned 2 xcr's. Gen 1 and 2. And shot enough tavors.

I was looking on theEE and bought my CZ for $1000 couple months ago. Like new. 400rnds. Fab kit. Factory parts. And the cheapest tavor I saw used was $2000. Was an easy decision for me. But I really like the platform.

What sport can a person use the equipment, enjoy it for years and then sell it for a kings ransom? Not the tennis rackets nor the golf clubs.

Gotta love this sport.

I remember wen I bought a cz858 from wandstall for 699 free shipping and a mini 14 stainless from p&d for 699 in I think 2010. I now regret them the mini stainless is what 1200 new and the cz and clones 1500? That's a steep increase in 6-7 years.

I paid $650 in 2009 and thought that was plenty for a surplus parts frankengun.

I paid 470 CaD two years ago, but with the new European laws that are coming? We send them all to Canada

Is this a surplus parts frankengun,...........NO.

I guess you have to ask yourself are these 7 times better then a $200 shooter grade sks.

Most definitely! SKS is the ( oh I just got my pal..... I'm 18 years old.....first rifle....first ammo purchase....saved up 400$.......got rifle and ammo...the walk into the gun store And asking clerk what is the cheapest rifle I can buy I'm just getting into shooting kinda thing )

Oh I don't know about that. I have been shooting for about 50 years. I have a CZ 858 and just bought my first SKS yesterday. Need it to help the 858 chew through the case of surplus ammo.
Did not even have to save up the $219.99.

The price on the 858 went through the roof when they were deemed prohibited a couple years ago. Everyone scrambled to get one, and the prices have never come back down.

I seriously doubt the CSA is built from scratch... tons of spare military parts laying around in the Czech Republic. Other than a new receiver and barrel, all the other stuff is mostly surplus, just like the CZ version.

I'm sure a VZ58 rifle is cheaper over there than an SKS is here.

Not worth much to me if I gotta bury it.

I agree. ^
Pricing up to $1500 for a VZ58 rifle is ridiculous. If that loonie tune from Quebec used one of these, we can kiss ours goodbye anyway.

I bought my CZ858 off the EE for $800 a long time ago. Feared the worst when the Prohib status was thrust upon us. Then breathed a sigh of relief.
THEN I joked to my son about selling it for a profit to help pay for his apprenticeship.
"Dad if you sold it, I think I would disown you. It's my favorite!"
So yeah I am happy I have it, shoot it and watch my kids shoot it.
I do have 3 SKS as well.

I wonder what the supply quantity is for the small parts?
Once the surplus lot of small parts is exhausted.....will anyone produce any more of these rifles?
