I hear all the mixed reviews on these adapters, some say yes, others no, so I take it it's a hit and miss; well that's not good enough when talking about a $1000 rifle. Then there are others saying that "you shouldn't modify a perfect design"...and they are right, but my personal prefference is for a 10 round capacity as opposed to a rather boring 5 rounds, which is more difficult to enjoy now specially since the new Bewoulf 50 mags are available for my beloved AR/T97/XCR, which legally alows 15 rounds of 5.56...basically my Vz and Cz are getting boring to shoot. Anyways, is there any good news on a more reliable way to legally have 10 round capacity for my beloved Czech rifles? Just a simple question I already know, pistol mags for these...no go.

Wolverine carries the B&T mag well adaptor for $180. It's heavy duty aluminum. Works very well with lar mags. Catch 22 is that your 858 receiver has to be slightly modified. Wolverine offered these custom milled 858's briefly. They still function perfectly with orig mags.

Imo having owned this rifle with adaptor I feel it's not worth the extra money. I now run factory mags pinned at 5. If your dead set on buying an adaptor pm me for pics and maybe we can work a deal. Cheers

All i know is the CSA plastic adaptor is hit and miss. Pistol mags work fairly well in it but wouldnt try using 5/30s in it again. Had a few instances of the bullet getting pushed back into its case. the cartridge is hanging up on a ridge on the receiver. I hope they come up with a better option for this rifle soon. Not bad on the range but i wouldnt want to have to rely on it functioning every time.

Or spend the time and resources getting signatures for the NFA petition and get rid of the STOOPID mag laws once and for all.

I took my chances and installed one on my CSA in 7.62. I didn't have to modify the receiver and have fired over 200 rounds without a problem. Im pretty happy with it so far.

I'm also debating the magwell adapter. Yoteshooter, were you saying that if you install the adapter, that removing it and going back to the 5/30 rounds is problematic? If so, why? Are you talking about the .223 version or the 7.62x39 rifle?

The B&T version was for 7.62X39 and is a good piece, all aluminum and does require a minor bit of machining to fit. The CSA plastic one was originally for .223 and was hit and miss. Not sure if there was a csa version in 7.62X39.

Is it worth it - only you can decide.

The B&T is real nice looking but doesn't hold the bolt open on the last round. The CSA adaptor is stated to work only with .223 but from my experience it works perfect with 7.62x39.

im talking about the CSA plastic 5.56 adaptor. It worked fairly well with the AR pistol mags but if i tried to use a standard GI 30/5 rnd mag, the round would most always hang up on a ridge in the receiver. The 30 rnd magazine seemd to cant forward in the adaptor too much causing this problem. i may possibly have a fauty adaptor. All mags i tried work perfectly in my Ar. As of yet i have not converted back to the plastic 5.56 mags. i would assume there would be no problems if i did. i guess the point of the CSA adaptor is so you can use the 10 rnd pistol mags(or the Beowulf mags) so i shouldnt complain about it not working with a standard 30/5 rnd mags. other people may be having better luck with them.

I had the b&t on my 858. Had the rifle milled according to specs provided and it would not function reliably. A tiny bit of the feed ramp had to be machined to allow the xcr mags to seat fully. They were not tight in the adapter resulting in the mags canting forward and as a result of this, the bullet tips would get caught up on the underside of the edge of the feed ramp on their way up. It worked sometimes but most of the time it was failure to feed.

I went back to the factory vz58 mags and they work flawlessly as ever, even with the modified feed ramp. I haven't tried the csa polymer one yet but have thought about it, it does have its advantages over the b&t with its mag release in a better spot and bolt hold open feature. Not to mention it's cheaper and made of plastic so if you had to modify it with plastic jbweld to seat the mags tighter to the rear to prevent the forward sagging it would be much easier to do than screwing with a big block of expensive aluminum like the b&t.

Has anyone used the csa adapter in a 7.62 cz858? I know they fit the later csa models but what about cz's? I'm assuming because my magwel is machined that it would

I have recently acquired a 7.62x39 CZ858 with the B&T magwell installed by Wolverine and can make the following comments:

Only older ASC LAR mags work. Newer ASC's will not engage the mag catch. No other steel or polymer mag that I own will engage the mag catch. The older LAR mags are swaged out over the mag catch and will catch reliably.

I have been contacted and told by some members that there really is no solution for this problem other than finding the older mags.

I hope to report with a firing test soon. Manually cycling rounds works flawlessly so far.

I installed CSA magwell adapter (plastic) on 7.62 vz58. Works pretty with XCR pistol mags with only occasional hickups.

The only thing I noticed: bolt catch fails to disengage (fall down) sometimes. It looks like a weak spring to me.

Can someone comment?

I bought one of the B&T adaptors just to see what they looked like.

I too found issues with the unit's inability to lock into a magazine, at least the magazine I had on hand.

I am curious to know if many people would like to see an improved version or a retro fit part to make their current unit work better. Please let me know which option would suit you best ...

I had a problem with mine the tabs on the top broke off I was able to fix it by reinstalling 5/30 mags then selling it for a xcr now all my ar mags work

I would like to see a mag wedge, all metal adapter similar to the ar-sks adapter but modeled after the functionality of the csa type. Mag release on the right side that is operable with trigger finger like an ar mag release. I'm sure many of us would like to buy one of these.
