VZ58 in 7.62x51 is possible if there is enough interest.

This would be interesting.

I have a big question. If this gun was designed to accept a mag from a bolt action rifle such as a savage model 10 BA which holds 10 rounds of .308 cal would this be legal to use in this semi auto. ??? Bolt actions are unregulated on magazine size. Be similar to the LAR 15 rule.

Yes it could even go over that and be 20.....

The magazine is designed and manfactured for regardless of what magazine fits a rifle ie many pistol caliber firearms shoot 10 rounds because they use pistol magazines that are limited to 10 were if it was a rifle mag it would be 5

Hi calber pistols are 5 rounds because they make the same magazine for the rifle and the pistol

Interested depending on the magazine type. Standard FAL mags, SR-25, AR-10, M-14, maybe even SCAR, or proprietary? M-14 or FAL would be the wisest choice (IMO) due to the "Rock In" style and surplus prices (thats assuming the .308 VZ reciever was designed for tilt in mags). I'm not a fan of proprietary mags. SR-25 yes, Ar-10 no. At any rate please don't make another .308 battle rifle with proprietary mags, theres already to many.

Cheap, plentiful mags (preferably SR-25 pattern/PMAG), integrated picatinny rail would be nice, around $1000 = awesome.

Great call Wally.

I'd be into this setup also.
I'd like to see a 20" chrome lined barrel too.

I hope there will be enough interest to move forward with this project.

I don't know if $1000 is really reasonable. I'd be more in the $1200-1500 range to be honest.

Think about our current options for .308 non-restricted:: XCR-M, RFB, etc

This would be a great alternative even at $1500

"cost of about 10%-20% more per rifle over the existing cost of a VZ"

From North Sylva

Thanks for stepping up on this one cadgo! Even at a cost of 20% more per rifle I'd put a down payment on one of these rifles. Hopefully they'd be chrome-lined with a scope union but I'd tap the ole visa for one regardless... Now I just have to make sure I get home to Canada in time.

To me csa rifles in NR configuration are a great buy. There aren't many battle capable NR rifles. No not everyone wants/needs a combat capable rifle. I for one see the benefit in owning NR combat capable rifles. If things get BAD we might actually need them. Since they're NR we can hunt and carry them in the woods.

$900 range for csa vz58 in 7.62x39 and 5.56x45 and $1200-$1500 for a vz58 in 7.62x51 seem like a great deal to me. Compare these prices to even an entry level ( non Chinese ) AR and the value becomes apparent. NR and a great price point.

For under $1500 (preferably less) I'd buy one! Especially if it took AR-10/SR25 type mags! It would be an excellent cheaper (alot cheaper) alternative to other NR .308 caliber rifles on the market. Would need some sort of scope mounting incorporated, I'd be fine with the standard side rail.
