Sweet. First time I have seen them used away from guard duty at the gates of KAF....

These guys must be special forces, need that special training to carry around a big bag of spare bolts and firing pins where ever they go.
Given all the stories, I've always wondered if the VZ 58 would turn out to be the Czech version of the Ross, if things had really heated up during the Cold War.
Grizz
If you have a choice and RCMP allow either one in full auto, what would be your choice?

AK-74, hands down, other than in weight, finishing and maybe selector layout the 74 comes out ahead in every department.
Comes in decidedly slow in the rate of fire department.
Vz58's are said to be great rifles, the Czech military has been using them for quite sometime. Also the cz858 is a great rifle in my opinion. The csa vz58 in .223rem is hit and miss from what I hear, pretty sure any of us would love to own a military grade vz58, I sure as hell would.
Full auto Vz 58 for sure, if for no other reason than the gigantic ejection port.
16 inch AK's come with 1mm stamped receivers, 23 inch RPK's come with 1.5mm stamped receivers - put an RPK barrel on an AK receiver and watch the fun. It's like US AK's with bolted trunnions, both bolts and rivets are fasteners, but bolted trunnions are bad news and even using the wrong rivets is bad news. Incidentally, if you have one of the old "non-restricted" 18.5 barrel Chinese AK's, you'll find it was built on an RPK receiver, whereas if you have an old "restricted" Chinese AK it'll more than likely have an AK receiver (they standardized on the RPK receiver towards the end).
